Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?

There is nothing more motivational than results. Every six weeks, we offer clients a fitness assessment so we can objectively see the results they are getting. Scheduling appointments also helps with accountability and ensures that they will stick with a routine.

Do you believe in the maxim, "No pain, no gain?? Why or why not?

Define "pain." Everyone perceives pain differently?to some, the muscle burn often felt during exercise counts as pain, while others don't view it as painful. Basically, mild discomfort and burning sensations in the muscles are OK, while sharp stabbing pains or anything felt within a joint is not.

Sweating to the oldies is acceptable, but sweating to the blues less so. Do you find that certain styles and genres of music generate more intense workouts?

Generally yes, but different people get motivated by different kinds of music. That's why we offer SiriusXM, which enables us to change the station to fit the moods and personalities of the clients we are training at any given time.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

We have two primary distinguishers. First of all, we are the area's only fully-private personal training facility. And second, we are the only ones who utilize proprietary fitness programming systems?Aspire8, Cardio Together, and Nutrition Together?to help clients get results.

Since those humble beginnings, they built Malibu Fitness—a modern gym where they help people build rippling muscles. Their trained group fitness instructors lead classes in yoga and Pilates, as well as more high-energy Zumba classes that set Latin dance moves to international tunes. Meanwhile, you’ll hop on a stationary bike for the spinning classes, which rely on intense climbs and sprints to elevate heart rates and burn calories. There’s also the option of one-on-one workouts with personal trainers, who can tailor workouts that shed girth, strengthen muscles, and improve athletic performance.

There are a number of nice bonus amenities at Malibu Fitness—it has flat-screen TVs, locker rooms, and a SunDome stand-up tanning booth.
