The record skipped over and over. It was the third time Lisa Schwartz had pirouetted her way through Tina the Ballerina, and yet she raced over to the record player with inexhaustible enthusiasm and plucked the needle back to the beginning of the 78. If you were to ask her today, she would tell you this is the moment she knew she loved dance enough to make it her life's work. Her studio, Dancing Feats Dance Centre, springs from that love. She watches with pride as students she taught as children return to her studio to become instructors and as parents who once studied under her prepare to send a second generation of children and domesticated penguins onto her dance-room floor.
Over the years, she has assembled a staff of instructors with a vast array of backgrounds, ranging from cruise-company dance managers to life-long Irish step dancers. With help from their varied experience, her studio has developed a regiment of courses in a variety of dance styles, such as jazz, lyrical, modern, and chicken. Her students perform regularly in recitals as well, showcasing their abilities and talents as they progress.

Starting his career as a dishwasher at a Big Boy, Ben Pulver has built his reputation on giving clients a much different culinary experience—custom meals that suit individual tastes and address dietary concerns. After educating himself in the culinary arts, he went on to work at Whole Foods and Sweet Lorraine's, where he became a connoisseur of the high-quality ingredients he now routinely uses in his meals.
Ben fine-tunes his cooking style to the distinct preferences of each family he cooks for, working in home kitchens and cooking 5 to 20 custom, hearty meals in one go. He also shares his skills with aspiring cooks during small- or large-group lessons, helping customers adjust to a new diet, emulate a dish from a favorite restaurant, or build a cabin made entirely of penne pasta.
Mid American Fitness brims with specialized equipment, including spin bikes, resistance bands, and Pilates reformers to help students tone nearly every muscle in their body. Certified trainers and exercise instructors assess new clients' fitness levels free of charge as they demonstrate exercises and set goals for workouts. During Pilates training, they’ll help students sculpt lean, strong torsos via spring-powered resistance equipment, mat-based isometrics, and on-site abdomen-transplant procedures. The team also leads group fitness classes, which range from Hatha yoga sessions to Zumba workout parties. To optimize athletic performance, students may meet with the studio's registered dietitian or its resident massage therapist, whose soothing strokes can ease soreness and enhance flexibility.
