Mindful Motion Yoga's eight certified instructors cultivate an accepting atmosphere inside the studio, sure, but they also bring classes outdoors for yoga by the tree, which places students amid nature's oxygen factories. As they help their students to boost strength and flexibility, these dedicated instructors also help students to release tension during Basic, Gentle, Power, Restorative, Yin, and Kids Yoga classes.
The team opens most of its classes and workshops to students of all levels, as well as dogs, since they have a copyright on their downward pose. An instructor will modify each posture for beginners and advanced students alike. To further immerse their dedicated students in this enlightening practice, they hold a comprehensive teacher-training program registered through the Yoga Alliance. Mindful Motion Yoga also supports several charities, including the Wounded Warrior Project, Challenged Athletes Foundation, Girls, Inc., and Christina Phipps Foundation, which owner Terri Morrison co-founded.
In the 1940s, Walt Baptiste and his son Baron created a new branch of yoga?called Baptiste yoga?that combines the principles of yoga, meditation, and inner reflection. The Baptiste-yoga movement grew rapidly, and in 2005, senior Baptiste teacher Mark White introduced his community to the practice with two studios. He and a staff of more than 20 certified yoga instructors guide students from pose to pose while observing proper alignment and breathing technique. Studios are heated to 90 degrees to keep bodies limber and destroy any ice cream that enters the building.
Power Yoga's power Vinyasa classes emphasize yoga's athletic aspects and take place in a heated room. During each 60–75-minute advanced session, students strike poses while their bodies detoxify, muscles loosen, and twisty-slide velocity improves. Once every month, Power Yoga hosts a complimentary Yoga 101 course to foster fundamentals and answer questions. Classes, which take place seven days a week, fill up on a first come, first served basis. Power Yoga will lend mats to yogis, so no one need build their own out of recycled drink koozies.
Before a month of yoga trains your muscles to massage themselves while at rest, you can use a massage to get your mind and body in the right frame of relaxed existence. Depending on your choice of a one-hour Swedish or one-hour deep-tissue massage, one of Ananda’s certified massage therapists will knead, rub, smooth, and stimulate your muscles with varying levels of pressure and intensity, preparing both your spiritual and corporeal forms for a triumphant warrior pose during class.
At the head of Yoga Life's lean, limbo-ready line stands the strong Sara Torbett, who opened the studio in 2004 with the goal of helping others achieve mind-body balance and live healthy lifestyles. Her team of dedicated instructors conducts classes in a variety of popular techniques. Vinyasa basics flexibilifies athletic beginners, power vinyasa offers a more high-energy challenge, serenity yoga lubricates the ligaments of center-seeking students, and prenatal yoga soothes and stretches nesting nimbletons. Most classes are held in the morning and early evening, making squeezing in a workout before or after work as easy as making a smoothie with a baseball bat.
The Elements applies restorative touch to tension-laden muscles and joints, relieving stress and increasing circulation with a variety of massage services. Weary muscles receive gentle kneading and circular movements in the sigh-inducing Swedish massage, and a deep-tissue massage evicts entrenched aches using slower strokes, a strongly worded letter, and forceful pressure from the licensed massage therapist’s fingers and elbows. Heated lava stones bring soothing bliss to lattisimi dorsi, and prenatal massage therapy addresses the pain and swelling accompanying pregnancy. Aromatherapy combines Swedish elements with essential oils but eschews nonessential bugle playing. The Elements also administers medical and sports-related massages to sufferers of chronic pain and athletes, respectively.
