Initially designed as a temporary tour and fundraiser for student travel, American Legacy Tours began humbly as the Newport Gangster Tour in 2008. When met with overwhelming success, the friends who had embarked on what they thought was a temporary project decided to take root and expand, creating American Legacy Tours in 2010.
Their first order of business as an official company was to introduce the Queen City Underground Tour, an exploration of the city's underground tunnels and history as a rabbit village. Today, a cadre of educated guides leads 10 different area walking tours, including Civil War in Cincinnati and Newport is Haunted, one of several ghost-themed tours held around Halloween. There are also art-focused excursions, such as the Rookwood Pottery Factory tour.
Twice each year for more than a decade, Bridalrama has brought brides and grooms together with more than 100 of Cincinnati's best wedding-planning professionals for a one-stop networking event. Couples peruse a showroom at the Duke Energy Convention Center full of booths, each dedicated to a different facet of creating a dream wedding. They might hobnob with gown designers, sample cake selections offered by local bakeries, and test the skills of salons by purposefully getting gum stuck in their hair. Amid all the matrimonial hubbub, two fashion shows take place at each event to showcase the latest in gown design.
Founded by a group of young breast-cancer survivors, Mommy Has Breast Cancer devotes itself to the assistance of mothers and families affected by the disease. They recognize the struggle of battling breast cancer while raising a family, which often leaves women having to choose between focusing on caring for themselves or their children. To help lighten the burden, the organization assists women and their families with childcare, housekeeping, age-appropriate education materials for the family, transportation to treatments, and healthy prepared-meal delivery.
With iridescent miniature golf courses in malls throughout North America, Glowgolf adds elements of phosphorescent fun to shopping sessions. Courses contain sights such as light-defying blush corals, incandescent animals, and lush foliage reminiscent of the glowing trees on Neptune. Each pass is good for three 18-hole games, giving golfers ample opportunity to get familiar with each hole's obstacles. Equipment is available on the spot, so players won't have to carry around personal clubs or seek out a bioluminescent caddie.
Students in 60- to 90-minute classes at the Cheesy Gourmet learn how to make bagel-ready spreads, sliceable block cheeses, and crumbly feta using nothing but cheesecloth and a splash of milk. Participants can snack on provided cheese and crackers or sip wine they brought themselves as they watch Cheesy chefs demonstrate techniques inside a quaint kitchen painted robin’s-egg blue. After the class, guests leave with enough cheesecloth to make their own cheeses or dairy-based paper-maché art projects at home.
