Owned by the Esterline family since 1916, Eagle Creek Nursery helps gardeners cultivate greener spaces with a fully stocked nursery of plants, trees, and an extensive selection of horticulture gear. As customers wander beneath the greenhouse's caliper deciduous and evergreen trees amid tropical plants ($49.95), arborists and landscapers stand by to answer questions and counsel against gardening faux pas, such as overwatering a rock garden. Green thumbs can nurture buds within a selection of pots ($30+) or shape shrubbery sculptures with a pair of hand pruners ($19.95).
Wellman Exteriors' experienced technicians beautify homes and yards with services that range from window cleaning to tree trimming. Pressure washing makes decks, patios, and siding glow with cleanliness without incurring scratches. The crew can also tend to trees, trimming branches that have developed diseases or stolen biscotti from the cookie jar.
Since 1979, the staff at Tiffany Lawn & Garden has outfitted residential and commercial landscapes with an array of bagged and bulk mulches, decorative stones, soils, and sands. To maintain appearances beyond worm’s-eye level, they also stock a line of outdoor-living products, such as fire pits and patio pergolas, along with understated retaining-wall blocks and a slew of landscaping tools and equipment. In addition to beautifying outdoor spaces, Tiffany Lawn & Garden supports charitable organizations, including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Wee Gnome Scouts.
Project Home Indy (PHI) provides a long-term residence for young mothers with individual case management and programming designed to help each person transition to self-sufficiency. The residence can house five young women aged 15–19 who are pregnant or parenting young children for up to two years at a time. During their stays, they complete secondary education and engage in courses on parenting and life skills, such as contraception, technology, and economic literacy. Project Home Indy also provides health care for mothers and children including pediatric care, substance-abuse treatment, and mental-health services. Each young mother can determine the amount and intensity of the services she requires from the program, while gathering the tools to support herself and her child.
