When searching for the perfect place to open up their new eatery, Fish Tales Seafood & Steak House owners Dan and Peggy Wesner got all the way to the edge of the ocean, threw up their arms, and said, "good enough." Today, their endeavor has paid off, and diners from near and far come to feast on the restaurant's flaky fish sandwiches. Each day, the kitchen releases its bounty of freshly caught whitefish and tuna onto plates, serving it in steak, fillet, or sandwich form. Chefs also assemble steak, chicken, and salmon into skillets, which arrive to tables chock-full of potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and green beans.

On Sundays and Mondays, the staff complements drinks with slices of free Gumby’s pizza. The interior features classic, unpretentious wood accents that suggest a recreational haven more than a stuffy boardroom. High-backed wood booths broadcast their coziness and ability to promote posture better than a drill sergeant teaching first graders to the drinkers reveling under understated track lighting. Owner Jim Smith has been preserving this familiar bar atmosphere since taking it over in 1976.
Dixie Grill and Bar's uniquely embellished interior dons vintage trinkets and memorabilia for diners to feast their eyes on as they delve into a menu of classic American eats. Couples can jumpstart gustatory glands by sharing an appetizer of deep-fried mozzarella served with house-made marinara sauce ($7.95). Muting belly bellows more effectively than a swiftly thrown leather shoe, the grilled cheeseburger wedges a half-pound of Angus beef slathered in barbecue sauce, onion straws, bacon, and cheddar cheese between two grilled cheese sandwiches ($11.95). Thaw out a frozen palate with the spicy fire burger smothered in jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, and an optional coating of house-made fire sauce ($9.95). The Jack Daniels sauce chicken entree wins over tasters with two grilled chicken breasts slathered in a signature whiskey glaze ($13.95), while the Key West shrimp sports a fresh coat of crispy-sweet coconut batter ($14.95).
Crowned Miami New Times' Best Neighborhood Bar/North in 2008, Billy's Pub plays gracious host to a four-course spirits and stogie soiree. Patrons first choose vodka, bourbon, or scotch, and then swig on three drinks from the selected liquor tributary prepared in any combination of straight up, mixed, or semi-gaseous. With tongues and tummies properly marinated, lips and dexterous chin dimples can then puff on an aromatic, tobacco-leaf roll-up in such brands as Ashton and Dunhill.
