All American Crossfit co-owner Oscar Castillo is a firefighter, but even though his job is physically demanding, he says it doesn't compare to CrossFit. “What we do at work—it's hard, but it's not as hard as CrossFit,” he says.
But that's not to say the workouts are only for the physically fit—Oscar and his partner can vary the weight and intensity of each exercise for students of any fitness level. The constantly changing workouts combine elements of weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardio to appeal to those who tire of traditional gym routines. Students swing kettlebells, climb ropes, and perfect their Olympic medal acceptance speeches while holding themselves up on gymnastic rings. “It's constantly varied,” Oscar says. “It doesn't get boring.”
As they challenge their bodies with each day's workout, members can draw inspiration from an assortment of colorful flags representing professions such as firefighting, police work, and the military, as well as causes including the fight against breast cancer.
Inside the barbershop-style men's salon, clients sit back in sleek, contemporary barber chairs while stylists cut off split ends and style hair. For every hair treatment, they use products from American Crew or Redken for Men. The stylists also trim beards and groom fingers and toes with mani-pedis.
Advanced Massage's licensed massage therapist Gerald Roach matriculated at Florida School of Massage and continued to pursue a successful career using his passion for helping clients feel better. Upon entering the therapist's domain, clients fill out a form detailing their massage-related wants and needs and solve a worksheet of posture-related geometric proofs. A slew of massage modalities is available; Roach can also customize treatments to meet guests’ specifications.
Clean white linens and aqua-colored walls create a relaxing aesthetic at Vita E' Bella Nail & Day Spa. The spa's equally relaxing treatments range from mani-pedis to massages, and waxing services are available for a range of body areas. The menu of skincare treatments includes a classic facial, which features a cleanse, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and massage.
A childhood spent on the beach turned into a big business for the family behind the Boucher Brothers. They started the business in 1987 and continue to serve hotels, condos, and public beaches with concessions and beach rentals on Florida’s coasts, at Virginia Beach, and on the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago. They take beachgoers parasailing above the waves and rent out a slew of equipment that includes Waverunners, boogie boards, and kayaks. Alternatively, landlubbers can sun themselves on lounge chairs or take shelter from the sun's rays in a cabana, beneath an umbrella, or in the shadow of a highly trained cumulus cloud. As a testament to the staff's dedication to pampering patrons, Boucher Brothers has received the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences' Five Star Diamond Award for 10 years running.
At Boca Beauty Academy, clients aren?t just getting pampered; they?re helping future beauty professionals hone their skills. At the waterfront campus, students take in thorough classroom instruction, then use what they've learned during hands-on hairstyling, massage, skincare, and nail treatments. Rather than absorbing knowledge in stuffy lecture halls or through uncomfortable naps on textbooks, the licensed vocational school lets students loose in a real salon replete with styling chairs, nail stations, and a spa treatment room, where their clients bask in low-cost indulgence with products from Matrix, OPI, Pevonia, and Biotone.
