Fountains whisper to themselves amid low emerald hillocks. Groups of golfers confer over tees at the ninth hole, where the fairway drops off to the left, into the cool mirror of a small lake. Architect Ted Robinson, who has designed more than 170 courses, draws heavily on the many uses of water in his creations. With mountains spearing the horizon in the distance, golfers cut beneath swaying palm trees. The scents of grilling burgers drift down from the clubhouse, and during Sunday-morning brunches, champagne glasses clink occasionally like a shy xylophonist.

Q&A with Patti, Program Coordinator

Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?

Our classes are for women only, and as such we tailor each class with women in mind. We have great music that is new for each class. And our workouts are so much fun you forget you are really getting a great workout.

What's the most radical physical transformation you've seen a client make?

The upper body and core strength.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

Our location is ... within the The Camp Transformation Center in Fontana. We do not have signage yet outside for Sexy Camp aka Pole Fit Camp.

Dr. Larry Lasky wants to see smaller numbers on scales, pant labels, and?most importantly?medical studies regarding obesity-related diseases. He shares this mission with the community through broader-scale initiatives aimed at improving school lunches and the readability of nutrition labels, and through personalized plans for clients at his weight-loss centers. There, he and his team of bariatric specialists guide patients through their medical weight-loss programs step by step. They tailor treatments for individual needs, customizing diet plans, administering weekly injections of methylcobalamin injections, and recommending FDA-approved appetite suppressants and medications.

Night lasers, black lights, and glow sticks might tempt people to mistake a Chicka Fitness workout for a rave, but make no mistake—the Chicka Fitness crew is serious about exercise. Their unique classes incorporate dozens of props, allowing pupils to have fun while they sweat off pounds and sculpt their bodies. They use sticks for self-defense, hand targets and bats for stress relief, and even drumsticks. More provocative classes also incorporate chair workouts, dance, and belly-chain wraps.

Coach Bryan Rubin started Inclusive Training to cater to student athletes. But word soon spread about IT's effective programs, and before Bryan knew it, collegiate and professional athletes—including NFL players—were knocking on IT's door. Bryan and his fellow trainers develop programs that are uniquely specific in scope, because their focus is on preparing athletes for their sport of choice, but all exercisers are welcome.
