What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We serve authentic Hawaiian shave ice with more than 38 flavors to choose from. We shave our ice from solid blocks to produce a softness that allows the flavors to absorb into the ice. We import our flavors from Hawaii and mix them in-house using only 100% pure cane sugar.
What is one of your most popular offerings? How is it prepared?
Our most popular offering is our Tiger's Blood (strawberry coconut) flavor with coconut ice cream in the middle and sweetened condensed milk on top.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
There are too many places that advertise [what they call] "shaved ice" but actually sell snow cones (a.k.a. crushed ice) with low-quality sugary-tasting syrups. We love real Hawaiian shave ice (no "d" in "shave"), which is shaved from a solid block and is serve with quality syrups and add-ons. We wanted to do it right!
What do you love most about your job?
We love hearing comments like "This is amazing!" or "Tastes just like home!"

Beard Papa's traces its origins to 1999 in a simple cream puff shop in Osaka, where bakers whipped up sweet cream-filled pastries from French choux dough. Today, the beloved pastry shop lays claim to storefronts in 15 different countries?all the countries in the world, if you believe George Washington's maps. These shops charm clients across the globe with all-natural cream puffs, chocolate fondants, and other baked goods free from artificial flavoring. Guests savor the otherworldly flavor of rare treats such as a pastry filled with green-tea custard, chewy-crunchy Paris Brest pastries, and fluffy, chewy mochi puffs.
If you can't tell by the weather, you can always tell what season it is by checking out the frozen yogurt selection at Yu Top It. In the shop's 10 dispensers, staff showcase not only Yo Cream Frozen Yogurt staples such as chocolate fudge sorbet and alpine vanilla, but also the best seasonal flavors. These include options such as wintery peppermint and gingerbread or summer varieties such as watermelon sorbet and kiwi strawberry. These flavors can then be customized with candy, nuts, and fruit, so guests get exactly the frozen treat they want.
Peering into the pastry display case at Sweet Story Bakery is always a treat. That's because head baker and owner Michele Howard not only creates beautiful desserts, but changes the menu every day. One day, she'll be in the mood to create more decadent treats, and so she'll craft Ding Dong cupcakes, cherry chocolate scones, and New York?style cheesecake. But on another, she'll stick to lighter options such as raspberry lemonade cake or salty and sweet cake pops. Other occasions might bring layered Kit Kat bars, lemon bars, and chocolate-dipped pecan wedges. No matter her mood, however, she always cooks up at least one gluten-free dessert to ensure every guest can sate their sweet tooth. She complements her homemade desserts with jars of novelty candy. These pair with desserts to make great last-minute gifts or to put finishing touches on gingerbread-house renovations.
