Edge Coffee isn't just community-oriented, it is also a reflection of the community. That's because they source most of their ingredients locally, whether it is their coffee beans from local roaster Sisters Coffee or their pastries and bread from Marsee's and La Provence. These ingredients form the basis of their menu, with staff grinding, blending, and pouring coffee into classic drinks or lattes made with premium Monin syrups. Atop their breads, they create breakfast staples such as bagel- and english-muffin sandwiches or their signature boxed lunch specials served with a juicy kosher pickle and locally made kettle chips. Even their drinks have Oregon connections, with fresh smoothies incorporating Oregon strawberries alongside unique add-ins such as protein powder or a splash of energy-boosting Rockstar. They also serve beer from Oregon, such as the Overcast Espresso Stout, which fuses the flavors of beer, chocolate, and coffee.
Like a rainforest filled with still-undocumented species, Uptown Market stocks so many kinds of beers it feels like some of them haven't even been discovered yet. More than 850 varieties of beer are on display. The selection extends well beyond Oregon borders, with hundreds of microbrews from around the world available in kegs, bottles, and cans. Weekly visits from other various breweries fill Uptown Market's calendar and customers' stomachs with complimentary tastings. On some Sundays, the staffers host home-brewing classes. They have all the equipment required to start brewing your own beer, which is helpful since the government has decided to repeal the 21st Amendment next month.
Though ownership has changed over the years, Original Coffee Brake has remained a staple of the Aloha community since 1993, and has always been operated by locals. Scott and Kereah Carpenter, the current owner-operators, are no exception. And since they've taken over, they've worked hard to retain the community atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. This means that on any given day you might see baristas celebrating a regular's birthday or Scott practicing ballroom dancing with his mom. While visitors relax in leather armchairs, staffers craft breakfast burritos, sandwiches, and homemade soup as well as a variety of coffee drinks, brewed with beans roasted in-house by Scott.
After produce and herb shop Limbo closed in Southeast, Joshua Stephens decided to put his expertise to use from managing for nearly a decade, and he opened Stone Cottage. The latter-day apothecary honors its predecessor with a curated selection of herbs, spices, and loose-leaf teas alongside artisanal soaps, seaweed, and fresh pastries. The shop keeps its wares in rows of accessible glass jars, which shoppers can ogle, smell, or tap with a timpani mallet. An onsite florist makes the storefront vivid with living flowers and herbs ready for planting.
The scent of freshly brewed Stumptown coffee wafts through the air in the two-story house that hosts North Star Coffeehouse as visitors challenge one another to chess tournaments, read a novel by the warm fire, or translate Faulkner into pig Latin. Once equipped with a brewed beverage and a tasty, sugary pastry from La Provence Bakery, patrons can explore the North Star confines, decorated in a postmodern-meets-vintage theme by Vizwerks, before settling into a cozy plush chair to browse the free WiFi.

All of our products are made from scratch, ... hand prepared in our kitchens daily. We offer a wide variety of choices for breakfast, lunch, and dessert. Fresh from the oven muffins, pastries, soft and chewy cookies, and bite sized desserts. Sandwiches made to order with premium, all-natural meats and cheeses on homemade breads. Crisp tossed green salads and hot savory soups.
