Benefiting the Arthritis Foundation of Central Alabama, the fourth annual Bone Bash fundraiser brims with entertainment, engaging games, snacks, and more. Guests can don cocktail attire or sport a three-piece birthday suit for the costume contest before trying their hand at the Wicked Wine Toss, which rewards true aims with bottles of fancy wines. Photo booth snapshots preserve pictures of grinning groups and a fortuneteller previews next century's Oscar winners for curious partygoers. In between hors d'oeuvre samplings and inaudible bids at the silent auction, guests bust moves on the dance floor accompanied by a pulsating live-music soundtrack.
Programs that build character, leadership, and valuable skills for young people are at the heart of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama’s main mission. Today more than 8,000 children and teens count on the four area BGCCA clubs as a place where they can learn to grow and hone their abilities. By providing a safe place where children and teens can both learn and have fun, the centers hope to promote healthy lifestyles, community engagement, and a greater readiness for the working world. That mission is most apparent in the success of program graduates, who graduate from high school at a rate of 90%, compared to 66% nationally.
The Market is a three-day fundraising event that encourages marathon shopping and supports the Junior League of Birmingham’s educational and charitable pursuits by donating 100% of ticket sales to their various community projects. The event plays host to a diverse array of vendors hailing from a smattering of U.S. territories. Vendors will sell a wide range of wares, including clothing for all ages, artwork, and elegant housewares. For young ones, a costume-friendly storytime session will take place on Saturday morning, featuring an appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog. The Market is superb for locating presents for discerning gift getters, and attendees can rest easy knowing proceeds are directed toward the Junior League's 30 community projects.
