The almost surreally quaint cottage occupied by No Regrets Hair Studio is open by appointment only. That's not because founder and head stylist Sheena Coatman keeps a light workload—quite the opposite. When the salon's not open, she's on the road working as an educator for the American Crew line of men's haircare products and increasing her own education.
Coatman has some help at No Regrets in the form of Cray Simpson, who has a similar background as an educator and a wealth of experience in extensions, wigs, and other forms of mane enhancement. Beyond the salon's aqua, pink, and lavender facade, the walls sport a collection of local art that changes to showcase a different artist each quarter.
Orb lights hang from the salon's ceiling like a bunch of grapes, illuminating tall tapered metal vases that sprout orange straw. The arrangement stands against a backdrop of stacked stone and lime-green walls, near the salon's centerpiece––a five-panel pentaptych painting with stylized scissors against a city skyline. Cutlery Salon's lush space is the clipping ground of California-trained stylist Sarah Marshall, who draws on more than eight years' experience as she revamps hair with products by Eufora, Schwarzkopf, Paul Mitchell, and Kevin Murphy. Sarah loves talking to guests in detail about their look, helping them find a hairstyle that suits their personality or one that can be woven seamlessly into their favorite scarf. Extending her beautification project beyond scalps, Sarah also offers facial waxing in addition to cut and coloring services.
Sarah Marshall no longer services clients at Cutlery Salon. She can be reached at her new location, Namaste Salon, located at 140 W Oak St, Suite 140, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
Tuana Hair Design Fort Collins is all about beautiful hair. The award-winning salon stands apart from others thanks to the savvy stylists' European color and highlighting techniques, and dry cutting. With their diverse methods for coaxing the best out of manes, it only makes sense that the staff would teach others what they do. The salon team also serves as hair stylists at fashion shows and photo shoots, using products from Aveda and Bumble and bumble to bring their A-game despite the fact that they're on the road, just like when Denver Broncos travel to play the New York Mets.
Led by European-trained stylist Kazim Tercan and other experienced instructors, Tuana European Beauty Academy serves as a place for beauty enthusiasts to become skilled cosmetologists, manicurists, and aestheticians.
As playfully stated on their web site, His & Her Salon has been "saving mullets and $12 haircuts alike since 2009." This emphasis on turning style catastrophes into stylish makeovers comes from the Paul Mitchell Focus salon's owner, Andrea Andrews. She makes sure each of her stylists stays on top of trends and emergency bangs resuscitation techniques through ongoing education. Ultimately, though, the staff cares most about helping clients showcase their individuality with every cut and style. Paul Mitchell products help.
At Sienna Tan, four different UV beds variously boast amenities such as 360-degree bulbs, facial lamps, and iPod capabilities. The salon also makes UV-free sessions available by furnishing a voice-automated VersaSpa booth that’s equipped with an air-purification system. Tanning time can be purchased by the session, the week, or the month.
Sienna Tan’s staff also encourages an ongoing relationship with their clientele by presenting appealing membership options. Monthly members receive a complimentary welcome kit, which includes free upgrades to higher level beds, a pair of UV-blocking eyewear, guest passes, and a VersaSpa session. All members can benefit from Sienna’s tanning tips, which shed light on how to best maintain a bronzed finish. Additional FormoStar body wraps use far infrared heat to jump-start metabolism, detoxify the skin, and thaw hearts frozen by the icy glares of gorgeous snowmen.
Aubrey Meckley and Penny Fryer, the founders of PuraVida Spa, envisioned owning a spa that would specialize in medical skincare treatments. They shared one stipulation, however: their spa could look nothing like a cold, clinical office and therefore had to be filled with elements designed to invoke relaxation. This explains the breezy curtains, soft lighting, exposed wooden beams, and rich, chocolate-colored accents that join together to make PuraVida Spa a stress-free oasis at the edge of Colorado State University’s bustling campus.
Amid such soothing confines, licensed aesthetician Fryer draws on more than 17 years of experience as she beautifies complexions with chemical peels, microdermabrasion treatments, and laser hair removal. Eager for extensions of any kind, the beleaguered college students next door pay regular visits to Meckley, who outfits their tired eyes with thick and natural-looking eyelashes.
