For aesthetician Vicki, clear skin isn't just about outer beauty—it's also about inner confidence. At Skin by Vicki, her goal is to help clients determine what they want for their skin, at which point she can help them overcome acne, signs of age, or other issues with custom skincare regimens. She uses products derived from fruits and plants in all of her treatments, which range from deluxe facials with chemical peels to mini facials designed to maintain skin from week to week.
When mother-and-daughter team Carmela and Milan Petruzelli decided to start a business together, they pooled their decades of styling experience earned at locations across the country. They culled the best ideas, techniques, and products they had come across, bringing them together in their new Fort Lauderdale location. In business a scant four years, The Factory Salon has already earned a spot two years running on Elle magazine's top 100 salons in the country.
The family duo—along with a cadre of other stylists—cuts, colors, and conditions men's and women's hair in their trendy salon, decorated with dia de los muertos–inspired art. A handwritten chalkboard broadcasts inspirational quotes and explains new styles, its fluid script echoed in the '80s-style faux graffiti that runs the length of the walls and secretly contains designs for a car that runs on barbicide.
Founded by the owners of Bikram Yoga Fort Lauderdale, Prana Massage and Beauty flung open its doors in October 2012. Their eclectic selection of massages includes both therapeutic and relaxation-focused treatments. Hot-stone massages incorporate flat stones that are warmed to nearly 140 degrees?the temperature of a planet humans could theoretically colonize, but only if allowed to gripe about the heat. Swedish massage, alternatively, uses a rhythmic combination of long, sliding, and gliding strokes to relieve tension. The staff also peels away hair on both men and women with full-body waxing and offers threading as an alternative for those with sensitive skin.
Image Medical Spa’s team of doctors and aestheticians fights the effects of time’s ceaseless march with customized skincare treatments, medical-grade procedures, and vitamin-infused facials. Facials restore overly dry, oily, and glow-in-the-dark skin, while heavy-hitting Botox injections intimidate wrinkles, keeping them from foreheads and mouths for months as a time. To purge furry patches, aestheticians wield medical lasers or warm up waxes that whisk away hair to leave behind more shapely eyebrows or mysterious crop circles.
Blushing Society's beauty professionals travel straight to their clients. It makes their personalized spa treatments even more stress-free. Their massage therapists can thoroughly knead away aches and pains using deep-tissue, aromatherapy, or pregnancy modalities. Facial treatments help add nourishment and hydration to skin, while waxing treatments can leave it as smooth as a sandblasted slip-and-slide. The stylists help create eye-catching new looks as they trim, shape, and revitalize tresses.
Additionally, Blushing Society offers the services of beauty and fashion concierges, who provide individualized guidance for clients looking to buy new clothing or accessories, regardless of budget or style.
Michelle Ann's athletic background helped her appreciate the physical challenge of yoga when she first discovered it. After training with Shri Yogi Hari at the Sampoorna Yoga Ashram, she went on to teach classes at parks, beaches, and inside the studio. In addition to creative vinyasa flow sequences, Michelle teaches hatha yoga. A portmanteau that combines the Hindi words for sun and moon, hatha aims to balance contrasting concepts such as "effort" and "surrender," or "healthy" and "tastes good." Michelle also blends vinyasa yoga and Pilates techniques to tone muscles and increase flexibility.
