At Off Duty Armory, instructors with backgrounds ranging from hunting to antiterrorism operations lead classes that include standard NRA courses, women's-only sessions, and one-on-one training. The facility also houses a pro shop, where weapons experts dispense advice on both armed and nonlethal forms of self-defense.

The pros at Firearms Training Fort Worth's training center keep a professional DJ on staff for events with companies, law-enforcement agencies, and other groups. But even when celebration isn't on the day's agenda, visitors alway find firearms instructors with numerous certifications and resume points to back up their classes. Take founder and lead instructor Bill Carlton, for example. Mr. Carton holds certification as a Texas CHL instructor as well as an NRA instructor in pistols, rifles, and other topics. Lead long -ange rifle instructor Tim Sellers, on the other hand, brings more than 30 years of experience to the range.
Go Strapped Concealed Handgun hosts classes at Winchester Shooting Gallery, which houses indoor rifle and pistol lanes.
Handgun rentals are available for students who do not have their own.
Bryan D. Proctor, II is the certified instructor behind Go Strapped Concealed Handgun. To say he brings a lot of experience to the classroom and range is a bit of an understatement, as that experience includes both military service and more than a decade spent as a police officer. At Go Strapped, Proctor primarily teaches CHL courses, though for beginners he combines the CHL curriculum with NRA-certified lessons in basic pistol shooting and gun safety.
Elk Castle Shooting Sports was originally founded as the Ewell Cross Gun Shop in 1947. Since then, the store has grown into an all-encompassing emporium with new, used, and consignment firearms and firearm accessories. Elk Castle's gunsmith, lovingly nicknamed Big Dave, has customized and repaired a weapon from many of his customers.
Instructors David Freeman and Jerry Colliver both served in the military; David piloted medical-evacuation helicopters during Vietnam, and Jerry operated nuclear-missile silos during the Cold War. Despite this experience, they prefer not to approach firearm use from a military perspective. Instead, the NRA-certified instructors teach with a relaxed style that's absent of jargon and acronyms. This approach helps students to feel comfortable owning, carrying, and shooting firearms.
During their classes, the duo emphasizes topics such as nonviolent dispute resolution, safe firearm storage, and the fundamentals of handgun shooting, which students further master with practice time on the range. David and Jerry employ similar techniques to teach beginner hunters Texas's hunting regulations.
Forum Roller World’s vast polished hardwood floor stretches below a similarly vast ceiling outfitted with festive lights. And between the two? A scrum of roller skaters gliding, weaving, and figure-eighting to the tune of music such as hip-hop and gospel. This large facility welcomes skaters of all levels to slip into a pair of skates and cruise the floors. On Sunday nights until 1 a.m., adults rule the roost, where they can skate at their own speed without having to dodge children or re-oil their training wheels.
