  • Benedict's Catering and Cafe
Benedict's Catering and Cafe’s owner draws from more than 20 years of experience planning events for Estée Lauder. She leads a team of servers, bartenders, chefs, and baristas during catering services for events large and small. At her intimate French bistro, she turns the reins over to an American Culinary Federation–certified pastry chef, who bakes sweet pastries full of chocolate and pecans, and crafts a range of savory brunch and lunch dishes made from locally sourced eggs, dairy, and vegetables. Diners can complement their meals with mugs of custom-blended dark roast coffee and glasses of mango iced tea. The pasty chef also showcases her techniques in small-size cooking classes, which cover culinary styles such as Greek, Italian, and Spanish and cooking methods such as grilling and poaching. Once done with a class or two, students are ready to host their own dinner parties or test whether a grilled steak can really be thrown further than a raw one.

  • La Prima Donna
La Prima Donna is no stranger to pampering guests for casual and important occasions alike. To follow suit, their chefs highlight their menu with a decadent selection of a favorite comfort food?steak. Smaller cuts of petite filet mignon and bone-in veal cutlet parmesan complement bigger selections of seared New York strip and rib eye with green peppercorn sauce. The chefs also draw inspiration from regional Italian recipes while managing to incorporate the personal touches that create their particular brand of homespun food. By routinely making fresh pasta and rotating their menu throughout the year with seasonal ingredients, they dish up vibrant flavors in dishes ranging from baked-chicken parmesan to the homemade tiramisu that Arizona Foothills magazine described as ?creamy and decadent,? before going on to assert that ?this dessert might be among the best in the Valley.? With two stone fireplaces and fire-baked clay vases filled with yucca branches, the dining areas embrace the restaurant?s more-upscale proclivities while acknowledging its southwestern roots. Large drapes hang over the windows, which allows the skylights and individual tableside lamps to light most of the space.

  • Buca di Beppo
In 1993, the basement of a Minneapolis apartment building was transformed into an Italian restaurant, becoming the first Buca di Beppo. The owners soon found themselves riding a wave of popularity and marinara sauce as they opened new restaurants across the nation. Today, the eatery occupies 97 locations nationwide, from San Francisco to Times Square. At each location, chefs maintain the northern and southern Italian flavors that made the original so popular, with a few American twists. Then they serve it up in massive, family-style portions, making Buca di Beppo a favorite place for hungry families and groups of friends. For starters, the chefs bake up batches of Cheesy Bread Florentine, a colorful combo of spinach, roma tomatoes, and garlic sprinkled over Italian bread and sealed in place with fresh, melted cheeses. Entr?es are prepared with an eye toward quality and quantity, both of size and selection, complete with Veal Parmigiana, Baked Ziti, and classic Italian-American staples like Ravioli and Lasagna. And in keeping with the convivial atmosphere, they also serve truly decadent desserts. The Colossal Brownie Sundae towers above other sweets with six scoops of ice cream and tiers of sundae trimmings.

  • Chez Vous
Chez Vous In 2009, Richard and Isabelle Horvath took what would be a fateful trip from their native France to Scottsdale, Arizona. But despite falling in love with the city’s seemingly endless supply of sunshine, they felt something was missing: an authentic creperie. So, they returned to France, quit their jobs, moved to Scottsdale, and opened exactly the type of authentic, French eatery they had in mind. Inside their cozy creperie—made all the cozier with wooden, farm-style dining tables and walls bedecked with dinner plates—they fill organic buckwheat-flour crepes with savory fillings, such as roast chicken, herbed fingerling potatoes, sautéed scallops, and shaved ham. Dessert crepes sate sweeter cravings––the half & half crepe combines nutella and orange syrup, while the chef's special exotic crepe blends toasted coconut, dark chocolate, and bananas into an island-inspired treat that has been known to make eaters spontaneously sprout leis around their necks. Besides crepes, diners can find a taste of Paris in sandwiches built upon fresh, French baguettes, salads topped with warm chevre, and a modest selection of French wines.
