Ulen Country Club's golf course spans up to 6,310 yards over 110 acres of bentgrass greens, manicured fairways, and challenging rough. Designed in 1924 by Indianapolis native William Diddle, the dynamic course was originally designed for walkers, back when golf was played with caddies and cars were driven by a team of caddies pushing from behind. As many as 80 bunkers permeate the verdant terrain, a lake comes into play on three holes, and a creek snakes through eight fairways, placing a premium on club selection leading up to Ulen's undulating greens.
A shining example of Diddle's design is the 475-yard par 5 14th hole, whose massive left-hand bunker leaves drivers shaking in their marshmallow head covers. From there, approach shots must carry a creek and a bunker to land safely on the green, which is surrounded by sand traps on all sides. Though the course has undergone recent renovations, including new tee boxes, fairways, and an irrigation system, the original design is still mainly intact.
As a private facility, Ulen Country Club treats members to myriad amenities amid its stately clubhouse. Executive chef Nick Townsend and his staff serve up lunch and dinner menus in the professional dining room, with catering and banquet options available for special occasions. The club enforces a strict dress code that bans all T-shirts, cutoff pants, denim, and baby holsters.

When their loaves began to pick up notoriety across Montana, the couple opened multiple Great Harvest locations, expanding to more than 200 bakeries all over the country within 30 years. At each location, chefs combine the Great Harvest's venerated, additive-free recipes with their own to craft a heart-healthy assortment of whole-grain breads and baked goods using fresh-ground flour and local honey. Each month brings a newly designed menu that employs the season's freshest ingredients and harvests the warmest loaves from bread-bearing trees.

This cheerful backdrop makes the pale, unadorned plates, bowls, and vases lining the shop walls stand out in stark contrast. Fortunately, expert potters empower artists of all ages and skill levels to enliven these blank canvases, providing them not only with stamps, stickers, stencils, and paints, but with idea books and helpful tips. Once painters have added the last brushstroke, All Fired Up!’s potters whisk finished masterpieces away to the shop’s kiln where they'll fire and glaze them, just like Donald Trump does to dissidents on his resident staff of Pillsbury doughboys. If patrons can’t drop in to retrieve their wares in one week’s time, staff members can carefully pack them up and ship them at a flat rate across the country.
Internationally acclaimed pilot Amelia Earhart walked the landing strips of Purdue University’s runways, preparing her vessel for a groundbreaking around-the-world trip. Seventy-five years later, the pilots and instructors of Vector Helicopters carry on the tradition of aviation excellence through a full schedule of flight instruction and services. Instructors man the helms of the company’s Schweizer S-300C helicopters, helping students master the skills needed for pilot certification or feel the rush of an introductory flight. The airport’s two runways allow students to get in flight time while certified pilots take citizens out for a spin or monitor terrestrial issues—such as traffic, pipelines, or the mole men’s war games—that are difficult to see at ground level.
