Joe and John Lunsford wanted to find a way to extend the life of carpets, which often showed their age through stains and discoloration, so they turned to their chemist mother, Jean Beason, for guidance. Her system of on-location carpet dying—which she perfected during years of research, development, and carefully planned carpet-store heists—eventually led them to start Professional Carpet Systems in 1978.
As the Lunsford's startup grew to 75 locations worldwide, they switched their focus to carpet cleaning, using pH-balanced rinsing agents and a rapid-drying system. Now, the IICRC-certified firm also offers spot and odor removal, upholstery cleaning, and allergy-relief treatments backed by a 200% guarantee: if the customer isn’t satisfied with the treatment, Professional Carpet Systems will issue a full refund and pay for re-cleaning by a different company.
Though it's an airy indoor facility, The Crag Indoor Rock Climbing gym gleans its name from the jagged outdoor cliffs that climbing enthusiasts often strive to summit. Designed by a respected indoor rock-wall builder, The Crag safely recreates the excitement of inching up a punishing rock formation. However, not every wall at the facility is so challenging. It's frequently populated by skilled youth climbers and kids as young as 8. The younger climbers at The Crag often become adept through joining the youth climbing team, or by attending the gym's skill-building summer camp, where campers learn to scale walls by practicing belaying, top roping, and stealing Batman's utility belt. The facility's designer also kept adults and seasoned practitioners in mind by creating more than 100 routes that range in difficulty from beginner to more advanced.
For more than 30 years, independently owned and operated Chem-Dry's have provided a range of scrub-down services, from professional home and business cleaning to upholstery restoration. Central Chem-Dry carries on this tradition in the Nashville area, sending a friendly grime-fighter technician to rid houses of messy malcontents. Techs revivify dingy carpets with The Natural, Chem-Dry’s proprietary, nontoxic cleaning solution, and Legacy Cleaning system. The system uses less water than traditional steam cleaning, thereby encouraging speedier drying times of 1–2 hours. Upholstery-cleaning services also harness the power of The Natural cleaning system, lifting away dirt and allergens as easily as John Henry lifted a hammerhead shark. Beyond basic cleaning, Chem-Dry’s dedicated service technicians are also available for commercial cleaning.

Both models come paired with a box-spring mate so that they'll always have a partner in Yahtzee. Besides in-house brands, Ortho Mattresses' showrooms stock Simmons Beautyrest and Sealy Posturepedic sleep sponges.
Wielding their own supplies, Merry Maids' hyperefficient dusters and scrubbers clean more than 300,000 residences each month in North America. Unleashed on the interior wilderness of an unkempt abode, the cleaning commandos' voracious vacuums hunt down and devour dust dodos, paper-scrap porcupines, and other clutter-causing prey. Then, armed with sponges and scum-seeking lasers, the militant maids scour countertops and tile grout with the meticulousness of a pilot scraping Dubble Bubble off his plane's instrument panel.
