Field of Dreams Drive-In Theater offers communal, car-friendly film gazing as well as prefeature entertainment. At the Liberty Center location, around 250 vehicles sidle up next to each other to take in double features rain or shine, and the newly renovated Tiffin location can accommodate up to 500 sedans, stretch station wagons, and highway-ready riding lawnmowers. The flickering glow of Hollywood blockbusters joins forces with the twinkling stars overhead to illuminate clear, cloudless nights, helping to direct hungry movie goers to and from the full-service concession stand, and light the way for made-to-order pizzas delivered straight to each car’s drivers side door.
In addition to its first-run films, Field of Dreams features free, family-friendly games including corn hole toss, ladder golf, and putt-putt golf. Four-legged family members can also watch from the safety of a leash or their very own car seat, and portable coolers and grills are permitted on the grounds with the purchase of a $4 outside-food permit.
Happy Hour Inn's inventive chefs swirl fluffy dough discs with a traditional, white, or garlic-butter sauce before scattering the pies with more than 20 toppings ranging from pepperoni to potato chips. A menu of 17 specialty pizzas supplements conventional toppings with eclectic accents such as potatoes, sour cream, and thought bubbles. The taco pizza forgoes its mozzarella origins in favor of a nontraditional cheddar-cheese smattering garnished with taco meat, tomatoes, and lettuce. A creamy alfredo sauce saturates morsels of chicken, bacon, and onions atop the California white, whereas the buffalo-chicken pizza brandishes a spicy mélange of breaded chicken, two cheeses, and hot sauce. Diners can prime palates for the sliced feast with a 1-pound basket of boneless or bone-in wings that, like a spy with a laundry budget, don one of seven saucy disguises.
Equal parts sports bar, event center, and dance club, The Venue soothes the entertainment itch with its constant offering of things to do. When it first opened its doors in 1949, The Huron Playhouse saw its first performance in the form of John Loves Mary, a wartime comedy. In the prevailing years, the venue and its company have run productions of across all genres, from Shakespearean tales to children's theatre. The company puts on five shows a year, filling the space with musicals, dramas, and migratory box fans within the space of an eight-week summer season.
Like a camera obscura built around a dinner table, Home Slice Pizza stays forever focused on its cuisine. Within the brick-lined establishment’s kitchen, chefs toss and fire large and extra-large thin-crust pizzas topped with ingredients as classic as pepperoni and anchovies or as original as artichoke hearts, seasoned steak, and A1 sauce. Under this flavor ornamentation lies the pizzas’ true foundation: cheese. Blends of mozzarella, feta, ricotta, cheddar, parmesan, and romano provide a solid base for creative ingredient combinations and add a gooey warmth to every bite. Not content to be confined to pizzas alone, cheese also douses orders of pan-baked cheese bread and supports focaccia subs flecked with herbs and stuffed with hot ham, turkey, bacon, and veggies.
