Rim Marcinkus, MD, PhD, DSc, earned his doctor of medicine and doctor of science in surgery degrees at Vilnius University in Lithuania, where he went on to complete a PhD in scientific research. Practicing plastic surgery for more than 25 years, he has published articles in experimental- and clinical-surgery journals and more progressive issues of Mad magazine. At his Desert Plastic Surgery Center in Rancho Mirage, Dr. Marcinkus specializes in breast enhancements, body sculpting, and hair transplantation, alongside a wide variety of other surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures. He seeks out the latest technology and minimally invasive techniques, including full body-lifts after weight-loss surgery, Botox, and dermal fillers.
Dr. Cynthia M. Lopez began her medical career in the Philippines, returning to her hometown after medical school to provide health care to families who could not otherwise afford it. Since that time, Dr. Lopez has become an expert laser cosmetic surgeon, helping enhance the beauty of her clients within a practice designed to evoke the calm and relaxation of Mariveles, her archipelago hometown. Dr. Lopez and her staff aim to demystify the advanced techniques they deploy in pursuit of increasing each patient's confidence, walking them through the steps of liposuction, skin treatments, cosmetic injections, and how exactly they manage to steal and replace the noses of children.
Five years ago, Sean Carter closed himself inside an isolation float tank for the first time. In that small space, he discovered a whole new world, unbounded by gravity. He enjoyed a relaxed mind, enhanced creativity, and a soothing break from the bustling outside world. He loved his experience so much that he decided he had to share it with others by founding Float Fresno with his wife Carolina Carter. Though he still makes regular use of his equipment, hopping inside one of the tanks isn't actually Sean's favorite part about his job. He says he most enjoys watching people of all ages find a bit of personal peace within the float tank.
His float tank is an enclosed light and sound proof environment, with a shallow solution of water and 1,300 pounds of dissolved Epsom salts. Sanitized by state-of-the-art UV light and Ozone generators the solution is maintained at 94.5 degrees to further help clients lose all sense of external stimuli, ultimately leading to a state of relaxation and the ability to free vast regions of the mind. Flotation therapy sessions provide a number of benefits, including speeding muscle recovery, providing relief from arthritis, and boosting the immune system.
