The specialists at Mr. Frame It take pride in preserving and enhancing memories in all of their physical embodiments—from artworks and photographs to prized sports souvenirs. They draw on more than 1,000 samples from brands such as Larson-Juhl to create custom frames that either serve as focal points or blend in with room decor. In addition to encasing children’s artwork and family portraits, the staff stretches canvases, mounts mirrors, and builds shadow boxes to house awards and first-edition time-share brochures.
The kiln clan staffing Paint on Pottery can stoke the creative flame behind any promising ceramateurs. Hundreds of white clay canvases festoon the shelves, strutting their attractive contours and elegant pouring potential for an inspired suitor. Give colorful life to small figurines ($8–$12) such as dragons, fairies, mermaids, or dolphins; paint a glib caffeine proverb on a mug ($13–$18); or spread your ideal meal onto one of the salad ($14–$18) or dinner plates ($16–$24), all of which are made food-safe. The price of your pottery includes access to Paint On Pottery's studio space, where paints, stamps, sponges, and stencils expand your creative possibilities and aid loyal artistic interpretations of smiley faces and legible cursive Z's. A friendly staff member will whisk away your tinted earthenware for firing upon completion, and in just a week it will be yours, ready to decorate a clay-deficient kitchen, act as a thoughtful gift to a terra cotta soldier, or con a condescending connoisseur on Antiques Roadshow.
Though the titular owner of Crazy Dave's Music might tell you his music shop began with dragons and goblins, it really began with the even more fantastic 1980s. Years after assuming ownership of a failing Orange Park pawn shop, Dave realized that the most popular items in his inventory were always musical instruments. In keeping with the demand, he banded together with local musicians to turn his space into a fully realized music store. Construction crews renovated new rooms for live sound equipment and effects lighting, filled the old jewelry cases with pedals and microphones, and lined the walls with mixing equipment and synthesizers. Today, Dave's store still houses a menagerie of instruments and accessories. Shelves and corners filled with DJ gear and high-end guitars bear the logos of famous brands such as Fender, Moog, and Yamaha.
For more than 25 years, the experienced art and design consultants at Framing Establishment and Fairfax Gallery have been guiding customers as they select from a collection of more than 5,000 frames. Hand-carved, leafed, and metal picture huggers come customized to fit any image or memento, all of which the gallery picks up, delivers, and installs for free throughout the continental United States. Customers can give cherished images the treatment they deserve with custom mouldings from a variety of manufacturers, plus trimmings such as gold and wooden frames, mat accents, and foam-core backings.
Visiting customers can peruse the store’s gallery of local and Florida artists, gorging eyes on a feast of contemporary and traditional landscapes, still-life works, and sculptures. Artists can also be commissioned to craft custom artwork, helping gussy up a drab wall or take the place of a broken windshield.
