As Garry Hill lay with his eyes closed during his first reiki session, he felt as if the practitioner was drawing on his chest. When he opened his eyes, however, he realized that her hands were at least a foot away from his body. The sensation was so powerful that it left a lasting impression—not only in his memory, but on his professional life. Determined to share what he believes is a healing art, Hill completed advanced reiki training, including learning karuna reiki from expert William Lee Rand. He practices the art today at his own studio, Reiki Happens. Hill is also a licensed massage therapist, including more hands-on modalities such as Swedish, connective tissue, and neuromuscular tissue on his roster of services. He can enhance these massages with the alternative skills he's acquired from the reiki tradition, helping restore balance within clients whose energy has been zapped by work or an overzealous bug lamp.

Licensed acupuncture physician John Kotsch hasn't always been healthy. In his 20s, he suffered from digestive issues diagnosed as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. When conventional treatments came up short, he turned to alternative medicine. Inspired by the effectiveness and simplicity of the treatments, John left his career in journalism to pursue the study of acupuncture. Today, John shares this improvement with others, helping apply acupuncture to the goal of overall wellness, stress release, and vitality. He sees only one client at a time, ensuring he can devote his full attention to their needs and vacation slideshows. In addition to administering acupuncture treatments, he also shares his knowledge of natural medicine so patients can continue their healing regimen.

At Bodies In Balance Acupuncture, Ana Toriello inserts hair-thin needles into specific parts of the body for both medical and cosmetic purposes. Traditional acupuncture treatments work to treat dozens of ailments, including digestive issues, asthma, allergies, and chronic pain. When inserted into the face or neck for cosmetic services, the needles reduce rosacea, fade fine lines, and reveal hidden treasure maps. She can also pair acupuncture treatments with custom Chinese herb mixes that help bring the inner body into harmony. Ana is certified by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, the highest certification for acupuncturists in the country.

Licensed massage therapist Angel Seals understands that relaxation isn?t one size fits all. To help clients achieve the physical and emotional benefits of massage, she customizes head-to-toe treatments for each individual who reclines on her table. Angel listens carefully to their issues while fine-tuning sessions, addressing concerns such as muscle and joint pain, stress, or headaches. Then she devotes the full amount of time to the massage itself, never starting the clock before clients have removed their ceremonial sashes, undressed to their comfort level, and settled onto the padded massage table. Guests stay draped and cozy in the heated room while muscles are soothed with kneads and ears are treated to soft music.

Richard Fulmer specializes in integrated massage-and-personal-training sessions, which can assist clients in reaching wellness goals such as weight loss, greater strength and flexibility, and improved sports performance. The IMAP approach first measures the body's capabilities with a range-of-motion and stability assessment—Richard gauges each person's mobility and stabilization before organizing exercises for them to complete. The massage portion is likewise customized to the individual, as Richard combines modalities from Swedish to connective-tissue release and dispels tension from overworked muscles.
