Under the guidance of owner Amber Waters, the artistic team at The Tease can truly help a client to refine and flaunt personal style. Along with overseeing a full slate of salon services, Waters crafts custom dresses and offers private sewing lessons in her colorful and quirky studio.
The Tease’s clients know they’ve found the right place when they approach the studio’s uniquely vibrant façade, hand painted with a swirling floral design. Beyond a bright-red waiting room furnished with antiques and tapestries, a sewing machine hums and taps, at home in a studio stocked with bolts of fabric and brightly colored threads. In an adjoining room, Waters and her staff perform a suite of hair-centric services, from cuts and coloring to updos and hair extensions.
Since 1989, Licensed Massage Therapist Barbara Fish has been relaxing minds and bodies with massages that vary in intensity. Clients can opt for the luxurious massage, a relaxing knead, or the deep tissue, comprising more vigorous bodywork that can help alleviate aches and pains.
As Garry Hill lay with his eyes closed during his first reiki session, he felt as if the practitioner was drawing on his chest. When he opened his eyes, however, he realized that her hands were at least a foot away from his body. The sensation was so powerful that it left a lasting impression—not only in his memory, but on his professional life. Determined to share what he believes is a healing art, Hill completed advanced reiki training, including learning karuna reiki from expert William Lee Rand. He practices the art today at his own studio, Reiki Happens.
Hill is also a licensed massage therapist, including more hands-on modalities such as Swedish, connective tissue, and neuromuscular tissue on his roster of services. He can enhance these massages with the alternative skills he's acquired from the reiki tradition, helping restore balance within clients whose energy has been zapped by work or an overzealous bug lamp.
