Shape Women's Fitness' staff caters to every aspect of women's health, from the physical to the mental. Along with an array of fitness classes––ranging from kickboxing to yoga––they stock their workout floor with Italian–made Technogym equipment. In addition to exercise services, they provide their members with massages, an infrared sauna, and a pool that's heated to ensure comfort and discourage using it to fill water bottles. On-staff certified personal trainers help members of the women-only gym get the most out of their work-outs and guide them through proper nutrition.
At Abba Fitness, Coach Ramiro serves as motivator, fitness instructor, and nutrition counselor. He relies on 30 years of training experience during boot-camp classes and personal-training sessions, which are designed to be fun and challenging, like hanging paintings in a bounce house. To ensure exercisers properly replenish their bodies after workouts and eat right on off days, Ramiro, who received a degree in nutrition from the University of Houston, also schedules nutrition-counseling sessions.
If you saw someone running down the street with a sledgehammer, you would most likely think that person was crazy, but that's just another day in the life of the coaches at CrossFit Armada. The coaches—all of whom are certified across multiple CrossFit modalities—believe that the road to physical fitness is not paved with repetitive sessions on the treadmill. Each day welcomes a new workout of the day, which may incorporate one of more elements of gymnastics, weight training, and cardiovascular conditioning using equipment such as free weights, climbing ropes, and gymnastics rings. One day, students might do pushups and swing kettlebells within the 10,000-square-foot gym, and the next, they might venture outside to run or pound massive tires with a sledgehammer until they agree to personally train them. The workouts are intense, but scalable for all levels of athletes from professional athletes to absolute beginners.
In addition to traditional CrossFit classes, the coaching team also leads specialty courses such as CrossFit Endurance and CrossFit Olympic Lifting, as well as personal-training sessions.
Being healthy is about more than just fitness. The folks at T3 understand that, and that's why the gym's name stands for "Training to the Third Power: Mind, Body, Spirit." Instructors motivate students through boot camps, plyometrics, barbell workouts, MMA classes, and kid-fit classes with the aim of building strength, cardiovascular health, and endurance in a welcoming environment. The gym is especially accommodating to early-birds, offering group classes as early as 5 a.m. In addition to fitness, the facility boasts an in-house chiropractor to address chronic pain issues, as well as a nutritionist who can help trainees form a diet and exercise plan that ensures long-term health.
