The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous centers understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of a skills assessment using diagnostic tools and one-on-one interviews.
Tutors work with students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. Camps and after-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.

Breanna Clifton keeps busy. She's still in school, majoring in education with a focus in child development—a field in which she already has a degree—but she's found time to work with kids, receive professional awards, and stay active in her community. And, of course, she's even managed to found her very own company: BEE Smart Learning, which links students with Breanna for one-on-one tutoring sessions in an extensive array of academic and career-oriented subjects.
BEE Smart Learning started as an outreach program designed to serve at-risk youth and children with disabilities. But after Breanna started tutoring a few family friends, her college classmates got wind of her teaching skills and wanted in. Breanna started tutoring them, too. The rest is history.
As a former teacher and counselor, Dupé Aleru founded Tutors for Tots Tweens & Teens LLC to be more than a tutoring service. She also wanted to offer counseling, special education, and other resources, so that whether students needed one-on-one tutoring, special-education services, or help preparing for tests, they could find it all in one spot. Today, using a developmental approach, her team of qualified teachers helps students in grades K–12 stay engaged and rise to each challenge, whether they're learning reading skills or applying to clown school.

Typing away in their Culver City loft, the writers and copyeditors at Creative Confusion give words to a range of commercial advertising projects. Modeled after a classic advertising agency, the team has crafted ad copy for brands such as Levi's, Modcloth, and Forever 21. They've also spearheaded creative development for companies with services ranging from SEO-friendly product descriptions and social-media maintenance to general business copy. Each writer is matched to a project by specialty and works with individual clients to achieve the brand's ideal tone and voice.
These writers can also compose more personal projects. They may wax poetic in playful confessions, birthday dedications, and wedding vows, or execute creative résumés and cover letters. Drawing from a client's sensibilities or submitted personal statements, they also tailor unique letters on themes such as No Reason But I Love You and The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog. The writers also copyedit and ghostwrite pieces for other writers upon request. Regardless of the assignment, Creative Confusion guarantees that their work passes Copyscape's regulations for written content.
