AuRycl Tan owner Pashia Fischer knows the ins and outs of the spray-tan business. A former operations director for a large sunless-tanning company and a tinting artist for a loyal clientele, Pashia struck out on her own in May 2011 and hasn't looked back since. Along with a team of friendly account managers, she markets her proprietary line of sunless-tanning products across the country. Pashia's solutions—from an odor-free spray tan to a fast-drying bronzing mousse—bring a hint of sun to numerous salons and image-conscious owls.
Embroidered sombreros. Vintage car parts and license plates. Framed photos and old electric beer signs. The cerulean walls at the locally owned Anvil Barber Shop brim with bric-a-brac that seems to tell stories from days when the shop’s strait-razor shaves and comfortable barber chairs were the norm. The staff errs on the side of traditional attention to detail at those retro seats. They administer precise haircuts and classic hot-towel shaves while their of-age guests sip at complimentary beer and whiskey.
The technology-driven treatments inside Islands Tanning MedSpa help bolster the body's glow and reduce its circumference. Inside Magic and Tanses UV beds, 12,800-watt bulbs saturate skin with darkening rays more safely than receiving a hug from a dwarf star. Meanwhile, UV-free Mystic and VersaSpa machines spray the epidermis with a bronze hue, and Fit body wraps fuse infrared-heat energy with constricting wraps that help shrink fat cells. Islands Tanning MedSpa also offers memberships.
At Superior Nails, nail technicians pamper guests with services that make for beautiful hands and feet. During pedicure treatments, guests settle into cushy high-backed chairs while they dunk their feet into soothing soaks and techs slough off dead skin to reveal feet that are smooth as a baby seal first emerging from its egg.
At Ajara Aesthetics, experienced aesthetician Nicole Dettra treats complexions to 90-minute seasonal facials administered in a spa snugly situated on the grounds of the Willamette Wellness Center. Emanating the fresh, seasonal aromas of cinnamon, peppermint, and pine, the facial focuses on rehydrating the face, safeguarding skin from the severity of cold weather and scratchy face sweaters. Before or after treatment, clients are invited to seek further serenity by taking a stroll on one of the wellness center's scenic walking trails, reflect on life by the frog pond, or admire the transient beauty of squirrel holiday-light displays.
