Located in Los Angeles’ Eagle Rock neighborhood, Budget Pro Bicycles is an unassuming bike shop tucked into the corner of a low-slung strip mall. Inside, rows of hanging wheels line the ceiling, while bike parts, accessories and riding gear make up the front portion of the storefront. There are ready-to-ride bicycles available for sale as well, set into rows and organized by style and age range, which makes Budget Pro a perfect shop for a child’s first set of wheels. There’s even a small service shop, which tunes, repairs and maintains bikes for some of the many riders throughout the neighborhood. And as a bonus, Budget Pro guarantees their repair work for a full 30 days, which means you can be riding in style – and with peace of mind – in no time.

Having spent 30 years rehearsing his martial-arts techniques and another 7 competing in professional MMA matches, Joey Alvarado amassed enough know-how to craft his own training style, Combat Kettle-Jitsu. This system blends grappling techniques with kettlebell-weight lifts to condition prospective fighters. Though his methods have now spread to more than 20 countries and his resumé lists black belts, medals, and championships, Alvarado doesn't covet celebrity status. Instead, he and his staff strive to imbue others with the strength to achieve their own personal victories. During group classes, the team strives to reshape guests with both martial-arts maneuvers and conditioning drills. In addition to men’s spar-centric MMA sessions, they lead women's kickboxing, kettlebell boot camps, and CrossFit sessions. Teachers also helm MMA lessons for children and teens, keeping the youngsters engaged by infusing the session with games rather than wearing Justin Bieber masks. They offer private training for clients who want custom tips on their holds and hooks.

XTC Gym combines classic martial-arts training with a touch of something more lyrical. Instructors teach kickboxing, jujitsu, tae kwon do, and muay thai boxing, but also the Brazilian dance/fighting hybrid capoeira and aerial fitness. Accordingly, punching bags and swinging hoops alike hang from the ceiling of the brightly lit, 6,500-square-foot space, requiring that front-desk staff keep watch for monkeys trying to sneak in. An impressive weight room complements regimens of cardio kickboxing or boot-camp classes.

During her time as a fashion model, Donna Michelle D'Aurio knew the importance of staying in shape. But, when she became a trained fitness instructor, she quickly learned the importance of being both fit and healthy. With this philosophy in mind, Donna established Bella Fitness as a mobile fitness company in 2006. Since then, the company has grown into a fitness business where a staff of personal trainers, dance instructors, sport coaches, and nutritionists designs customized fitness plans for everyone from kids to senior citizens. Within the studio, clients can work up a sweat in semi-private Pilates, Barre, Zumba, TRX, and dance cardio classes that reflect Donna’s own group fitness certifications from the Arthritis Foundation, SilverSneakers, PiYo, and YMCA. For younger clients, kids' yoga and Zumba classes are also available. At the other end of the spectrum, personal training sessions provide one-on-one attention as exercisers focus on mastering specific fitness routines or strengthening their levitation abilities. Bella's facility is also equipped with a Korr Reevue breathing test, which determines resting metabolic rates, as well as plenty of space to host training courses on CPR and fitness instruction.
