When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
In July 2012, I started school for aesthetics and I realized when I got my first job how much I could impact a woman's self-image and self-esteem just through something as simple as an eyebrow wax. It's very empowering to me to be able to share my tricks and advice during waxing or facials to make women see that they can feel beautiful every day.
Do you offer your customers any extra perks?
Complimentary coffee, tea, and water. With an eyebrow wax, I fill and highlight brows for no extra charge. With eyelash extensions I seal the lashes for free.
What steps do you take to make your clients feel at ease?
I provide a clean environment. None of my cleaning supplies are in a back room or storage closet. I always make sure my aesthetics room smells great and that pillows and a warm blanket are provided for longer treatments. My door is frosted glass as well, and a lot of clients have expressed that they are thankful for the privacy.

In a tranquil corner of Solutions Salon, Kim's suite employs ambient lighting, soft music, and aromatic oils to create a calming skincare retreat. For Kim, the suite represents liberation from the corporate world in which she toiled for years. It was her own stylist that suggested she study aesthetics––a suggestion that stuck with Kim when she moved to the Tulsa area and began job hunting. It was no surprise that aesthetics was a natural fit. Years earlier, Kim had worked for Mary Kay cosmetics and been awarded a car for her success slinging blushes, lipsticks, and hitchhiking thumbs at passing motorists. Now, Kim channels her years of beauty experience into facials and sugaring procedures with Clinical Care Skin Solutions and Alexandria Professional products.
The staff at Urban Hair helps clients look as elegant as the spa?s interior with hair-, nail-, and skincare services. Moving around the black barber chairs, stylists detach split ends, infuse hair with moisture, or cover up roots, grays, or polka dots with all-over color. Technicians perform mani-pedis and apply acrylic nails, and skincare professionals remove dirt and oil with facials and repair skin by sloughing away dead cells during peels or microdermabrasions.
Ami Renee Spa welcomes women and men to de-stress and replenish themselves with a range of skin and body treatments. The licensed spa offers a slate of facials that can help firm faces or target aging skin, and body wraps that soothe systems with ingredients such as algae, wasabi extract, and volcanic clay.
The Ibrow Studio’s owner and senior aesthetician, Nicole Willis, has been honing her techniques since 1999, and has grown so proficient that she shares them in workshops at the studio and on KSBI’s All About You. Willis’s specialty lies in the artful clearing and shaping of body hair using the NuFree soy hair-removal system. Although the substance resembles wax, it remains at a comfortable 98.6 degrees and fights bacteria as Willis smoothes it on to shape elegant eyebrows or tidy the bikini line. Her nimble hands further enhance eyes with Reese Robert eyelash extensions, and her expertise with makeup contouring and seamlessly integrating tiny gargoyles into evening looks reflect her interest in enhancing facial architecture overall. A skin analysis helps the team tailor facials to each skin type, and complimentary aromatherapy turns body scrubs and wraps into multisensory indulgence.
