With machines set up in rows to encourage competition, many ordinary gyms cater to men's bodies and psychology, right down to the urinals that were "accidentally" installed in the women's locker room. At Curves, you'll move around a circuit of hydraulic resistance machines that have been designed to work with women's bodies and promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help manage your machine maneuvering and your muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing your momentum, the hydraulic machines use your body weight and fitness level to create resistance that matches your abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can.

At each Art & Elixir painting event, artists of all skill levels, especially beginners are welcome to explore their creative sides. Instructors guide participants through each event allowing up-and-coming artists their own “intentional composition decisions.” During events, the owners–who are skilled artists themselves–give students step-by-step instructions on how to recreate the evening’s featured painting. But it’s up to the artist to decide how to interpret that work. Using paints, brushes, aprons, canvases, and easels provided by Art & Elixir, guests can paint fields of lavender with bright red acrylic paint. The only rule during these casual two–three hour sessions is that painters (aged 15 and older) enjoy themselves. Events take place at venues such as Lone Oak Grill and Gold Nugget Tavern & Grille, where guests can snack on food and drinks available for purchase.
Not only a safe, encouraging environment for kids to be creative, KidzArt is also a place where anyone from age 2 to adult can build confidence and learn to see the world in a new way.
