How do you pick just one couch, dining table, or bedroom set from Modern Miami Furniture's show room? With one of the largest selections in the industry, it's always going to be hard to choose your favorite. The store specializes in modern, contemporary, or transitional furniture, with many pieces showcasing a nod to European or Eastern cultures, resulting in a modern array of furniture that's sure to provide comfort and conversation starters in equal measure.
Fabric gurus at Tiffany Fabrics draw upon 37 years of textile savvy to transform interiors with more than 7,500 bolts of imported fabrics. The vast selection ranges from classic oriental and paisley patterns to modern-day animal prints and binary codes. Staff happily consult with customers to discern the best fabrics for their home-accessorizing needs, and match fabrics with thousands of trimmings, tassels and tiebacks. Once clients home in on their ideal fabric, Tiffany Fabrics' carpentry crew can fit it to furniture of all sizes.
Half Price Mattress eases the investment of a new bed by pricing mattresses at 50%–70% below retail value. Though low in cost, each factory-authorized mattress comes from a reputable brand such as Serta, Tempur-Pedic, or Sealy. The showroom holds innovations to suit a wide variety of sleep styles: Simmons high-tech beds combine titanium lumbar support with temperature-regulating memory foam that keeps sleepers cooler than a dream career as an ice sculptor, whereas Spring Air’s mattresses wrap eco-wood and low-disturbance springs with a bamboo cover.
Since 2006, Loft Sofa has outfitted homes with modern furnishings handcrafted from quality fabrics and woods. In store and online, clients browse a range of styles, from sectional leather sofas and plush white couches to glass coffee tables and platform beds. Each of the shop's pieces keep mother nature humming with ecologically sustainable materials, including wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
Nadeau characterizes its furniture as "with a soul" because it's true artisan work: handcrafted from wood rather than mass-produced from gasket pylons. Showcase fine china and live gerbils in a mahogany regal glass-door cabinet ($372), or in a hefty, finely trimmed narrow bookcase with drawer ($197). Or, display a new moving picture box on a bobbin leg console table ($116). Furniture comes in a myriad of stains and colors, and many pieces are one-of-a-kind. Nadeau's ever-changing inventory includes a variety of sturdy dining room tables and chairs. Prices and selection may vary due to rotating inventory, but pieces are always fully assembled and ready to welcome any tuckered torso or mound of toothbrushes.

Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job?
Working with glass is so therapeutic that it has helped us and many of our customers get through some tough times. The uncertain economy inspired some of our customers to sell their home-made pieces and earn extra money. But my favorite part of this job is seeing the pride on my students' faces when they finish their artwork.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
When I left my abusive husband, Rowe Art Studios gave me a place where I could escape the emotional turmoil. After my first day working here, I started seeing the world through different eyes, and my whole life changed. Instead of focusing on my problems, I focused on recreating what I saw in glass. The longer I worked here, the more I learned. It's amazing how many different ways there are to work with glass, and how you can combine different methods into new and exciting pieces. This is true whether you're making a panel with stained glass or a piece of jewelry with fused glass.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
This is a field where you can try just one technique or many. The advantage of coming to Rowe Studios is that we not only teach, but we have a large selection of supplies. If we don't have what you need, we're happy to order for you. And if you're new to a field, we're always happy to help with advice and recommendations.
