Though they've only been leading paddling tours for a few years, the certified guides of Stand Up MN have already helped thousands of people explore the Twin Cities' local waterways up close. After equipping their guests with standup paddleboards, personal flotation devices, and ample training, they embark on trips along the quiet stretch of the Mississippi River that cuts through their urban landscape.

From St. Paul, groups glide under bridges and pass idyllic natural areas—and from Minneapolis, they can take a break from paddling to high-five low-flying birds from a rope swing over the water. Stand Up MN also leads extended paddling tours to Taylors Falls, where state parks and tumbling waterfalls abound. These excursions are complemented by the company's special events, which include speed-dating events at which participants spend most of the time hanging out while paddleboarding.

CitySolve Urban Race lets citizens explore their metropolis through a one-day odyssey that tests speed, stamina, and smarts. Teams scamper through their burb as they solve clues ranging from anagrams and pop-culture trivia to deciphering graffiti written in pig Latin. Interspersed throughout the race are mettle-testing physical challenges, molding iron wills to such tasks as dodgeball, improv comedy games, or identifying ice-cream flavors. Each day's race also awards winners for best costumes and best tweet. Each urban iditarod takes between two to three hours, and jet packs are strictly prohibited.

Toyota! The Runaway Musical Hit! is a comedic musical playing off Toyota's recent safety recall and public relations meltdown. The show has received positive reviews from several respected sources, including the New York Times, advocates for cyanobacteria rights, and all but one auto manufacturer. The story revolves around two pairs of passengers, each riding in a Prius. As the cars begin accelerating of their own accord, relationships begin to unravel, secrets are revealed, and harmonic laughter ensues. Go with a date to prove your keen yet socially aware sense of humor, as if you had hit him or her in the face with a cream pie produced by local, eco-friendly clowns.
