Registered nurse Lisa Grissim opened Profiles Laser & Medical Aesthetics to improve the health and look of the body’s largest and most visible organ: the skin. She recruited Dr. Thomas Miller to supervise the staff, which includes fellow registered nurses and licensed aestheticians. The crew’s intense focus on skin treatments—which range from anti-aging laser treatments to Botox injections—grants them a degree of expertise they use to help customers understand their skincare options. Staffers unpack technical terms and lend personalized advice to steer clients toward ideal treatments. Lisa explains, “We want to form lasting relationships with clients and rejoice with them as they experience the changes they desire.”
Though it has the staff, state-of-the-art laser equipment, and immortality serums of an advanced med-spa, the office sets itself apart with an upscale, salon-like atmosphere. Sun floods the lobby, where bunches of flowers and potted plants add an organic element to the modern décor. Shelves line up some of the world’s premiere skincare lines, including Obagi, Avène, and SkinCeuticals.
Though the experts at Studio Green are duly concerned with the appearance of split ends, aging skin, and unwanted hair, an even greater concern is with the effects of harsh chemicals on clients' skin, hair, and environment. That's why their 2,000-square-foot salon is solely stocked with vegan and organic hair products, including hair color that's been certified cruelty-free by PETA. The team of stylists tends to tresses more gently and ethically with formaldehyde-free serums, sugar scrubs, and gentle dyes. The aestheticians, for their part, can help clients to curate at-home beauty routines with a collection of organic serums by Éminence and Surface.
Clients lounge in comfy leather chairs as she attends to digits, precisely painting on bold colors and multihued designs in the form of flowers or portraits of Lyndon B. Johnson. With a concentration on comfort, Starr has decked out her homey space with plants and a TV.
Simply Beautiful Skincare’s owner and aesthetician, Amanda Miller, guides arriving guests to a private treatment room within the studio's tranquil space. She customizes each facial and chemical peel with Image Skincare and PCA Skin products, gradually diminishing fine lines, acne, and acne scarring on the face, chest, back, and arms. Amanda regularly attends classes to further sharpen her aesthetic skills.
A cream shag rug, exposed steel beams, and zebra-print ottomans impart a funky feel to the interior of Co. Capelli Hair Salon, whose grand opening attracted the likes of Carson Kressley of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. An expert in hair extensions, owner Sam Parker handpicked a multitalented staff of stylists to enhance clients' locks with glue-free Klix extensions or trim and highlight existing hair. Med-spa treatments such as Botox, chemical peels, and laser treatments leave skin smooth and glowing, and massages help muscles to unwind.
Stylist Fritzi Knapp carves out her own coiffing niche inside Hair For The Family salon using a combination of Redken, Rusk, and Paul Mitchell products. Armed with her scissors, coloring brush, and attention to detail, Fritzi revamps manes until they’re eye catching enough to redirect plane traffic. Fritzi can accent new cuts with elegant updos and brow waxings.
