Since 1954, Ray's Pharmacy has provided customers with prescription medicine, vaccinations, and trademark service at each location. Their team of expert pharmacists specializes in compounding, which is the practice of formulating customized medicines based on each client’s unique physiology. The full-service pharmacy not only fills prescriptions, but also provides free health information, a variety of immunizations, and home delivery for all medications.
Depending on the location, customers can stop by the gift store to pick up items such as scented candles, greeting cards, and Western–style apparel. An appointment-only gun department also outfits gun racks with high-quality shooters from makers such as Glock, Colt, and Smith & Wesson. Additionally, the Mansfield location houses a Suzy Q’s Soda Fountain & Grill, hearkening back to the days when customers could enjoy delicious soda and banana splits at their local drugstore and quarters still had Chester A. Arthur’s face on them.
The aestheticians at Skin Wellness Weight Loss and Spa improve skin tone and texture with an array of PCA Skin products. The scientifically designed line of creams, lotions, tinctures, and wizard potions tackle nearly any skin issue such as fine lines and acne, and also cater to more-complex skincare needs. For those undergoing chemotherapy, they offer specifically designed treatments. Patrons also can opt for mani-pedis, waxing sessions, eyelash extensions, or soothing massages.
At FabFit Wellness, the staff works to improve clients' health from multiple angles, providing nutritional counseling, exercise regimens, and detox cleansing packages. A body-sculpting program helps clients transform their waistlines and lifestyles, whereas chiropractic referrals help sort out health issues that can be traced back to spinal irregularities.
The Jenny Craig Program provides people with nutritious, heart-healthy foods, a personal consultant, and a plan specially tailored to helping them attain their desired weight. Clients meet with a Jenny Craig consultant to assess their current eating habits and to create a scheme for shedding superfluous pounds. Then, the week-one planned menu unfolds like a paper airplane made of phyllo dough (items in blue are included in the plan, and orange items are recommended additions). A sample day starts with the Breakfast Scramble, a mound of scrambled egg whites and turkey ham topped with melty low-fat mozzarella and served over diced red potatoes. Lunch is beef chow mein, which is packed with vegetables (broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, and rooglebetas) and remains unpacked with calories (it has only 220). Dinner brings the comfort of macaroni and cheese and tops it off with a cookie for dessert.
Though Casie Caldwell loved posh restaurant salads, she couldn’t afford to eat them on a regular basis. And casual salad bars, though inexpensive, were too often stocked with limp iceberg lettuce and tasteless tomatoes. Frustrated by this state of affairs, Casie quit her corporate job and opened Greenz, where she filled reasonably priced salads with gourmet ingredients such as brie, portobello mushrooms, and daikon. Her hard work quickly paid off; Greenz’s tasty, healthy food drew a wealth of media attention from the likes of WFAA’s Good Morning Texas, the Dallas Observer, the Dallas Business Journal, and Examiner.com. Soon, Casie was launching additional Greenz locations across the state.
Although their menus vary slightly, each of these spots draws diners in with fresh ingredients in creative combinations. Goat cheese and crumbled bacon rest on foundations of mesclun greens, baby spinach, and chopped romaine. Hawaiian influences come out in a salad topped with pineapple and seared ahi tuna, and Asian flavors yield a medley of panko-breaded shrimp, daikon, and wasabi peas. Diners can also design their own salads or transform them into wraps that, like babies born during a blanket shortage, are snugly swaddled in tortillas. The menu also extends to meatier options, such as a barbecued-pork sandwich or the turkey-chili soup featured on CBS DFW’s list of the Best Bread Bowls in DFW.
