Each individual's golf swing is very personal and intuitive, it can improve through objective analysis and instruction. This is the philosophy at The N.E. Ohio School of Golf, where owner and Masters-level certified instructor Greg Wood and his staff utilize a method called Guaranteed Golf. Developed by golf pro Dave Christensen and engineering specialists at Ohio State University, the system begins with an analysis of a golfer's swing, looking for flaws in technique. The instructors then help golfers correct their imperfections, and practice new techniques repeatedly until a strong swing is committed to "muscle memory," which research has shown takes at least four or five weeks. Anybody undertaking the Guaranteed Golf program becomes a lifetime alumnus, free to return for repeat lessons at any time. In addition to this full-swing training, N.E. Ohio School of Golf also offers clinics focused on the short game, golf fitness, and general performance enhancement.
Carried Away Recreation specializes in serene moments. Its customers can paddle a solo kayak down a gentle river where they glean a swath of green leaves. They can race across the Amish countryside on a bike rental and stop after mile five for a glass of Zinfandel from a local winery. If they want to take to the outdoors with friends, they rent a double kayak or a series of inner tubes to make floating a social experience. Cardio kayaking classes also blend natural beauty with physical exertion as a guide leads paddlers down twists in the river while shouting out Simon Says commands.
Neon streaks fly over and, occasionally, into the four nets at Green Tennis Club, a sign of players taking vigorous whacks with their tennis rackets during casual play and lessons. Certified USPTA professionals lead the lessons, imparting advice for smashing powerful ground strokes and developing a serve in both private and group settings. The teachers also organize weekly group drills, which invite players of similar skill level to practice different aspects of the game.
