Brandon Todd — who sometimes bills himself as "The 5'5" Dunker" — has dreamed of dunking since he was a little boy. He wore ankle weights and did 200 calf raises each morning in the hopes of catapulting himself up to that elusive rim. And then the day came that he finally made contact with the hoop. He was a 5-foot-tall seventh grader, and his obsession with basketball was just beginning. He began training harder than before, focusing both on his dunks and his overall game. Soon, he was flying up to the hoop with almost no visible effort.
Brandon didn't want his training breakthroughs to exist just for himself, so he created a 12-week program to help others achieve the same success that he enjoyed. He leads beginner, intermediate, and advanced athletes through intense workouts via different online instructive videos.
Barking orders for more than 20 years, The Sergeant's Program's head sergeant Chuck Dyson and his dedicated troop of more than 50 sergeants and personal trainers transform figures with military-style fitness sessions. The program provides a knowledgeable instructor to lead recruits through cardio, core, flexibility, stabilization, and resistance training while creating camaraderie amongst fellow fitness platooners. Though each day is fueled with running drills and calisthenics, Mondays and Fridays will be focused on increasing lower body and flank strength and Tuesdays and Thursdays will be geared toward upper body workouts. Cardio-intensive Wednesdays are solely dedicated to getting the heart pumping, sweat streaming, and reshaping rumps flattened by years in stagecoach-driver seats. Although the sergeants utilize a tough-love approach to push clients to their fullest fitness factor, the atmosphere is kept personable by their injections of light-hearted humor and giggling quartets of chipmunks.
Armed with several hundred hours of yoga training and Yoga Alliance certifications, the instructors at Sage Yoga are well-versed in the traditional ways of yoga. They guide students of all ages and ability levels through the sequences of hot yoga, Vinyasa flow, and classical Hatha yoga. Whether in group classes or private training sessions, they give each student personal attention—and often incorporate essential oil compresses to ease tight muscles.
