Chief Instructor Ed Catalano teaches traditional Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do, one of the original Kwans in Korea, and passes his knowledge onto his students at Defensive Martial Arts. Adults and children alike come to the studio and kick and jump across the traditional red and blue mats. Through his classes, Mr. Catalano hopes to instill more than just a knowledge of martial arts in his students. His classes also teach self-defense, leadership, fitness, discipline, and respect while students gain self-confidence.

Students at Unique Moves bolster their senses of inner sexiness and tone fit physiques with calorie-burning courses of pole, chair, and belly dancing. The studio’s calendar is packed with classes that strengthen core muscle groups and firehouse transportation skills in an intimate, small-group setting. In three levels of lessons, students run through a sculpting series of climbs, spins, and inverts with specific sessions devoted to hip-hop or slow-and-sensual moves. Patrons also boogie at floor level with sultry moves performed on a simple chair or shimmy away 250–300 calories in one-hour belly-dancing excursions. A recommended uniform of shorts, tank tops, and bare feet ensure free movement on the pole. High-heeled shoes are optimal for working calves during exotic-dance lessons and achieving high scores in bubble-wrap-popping throw-downs.
