Leafy trees throw cooling shade over Sleepy Sheep Ranch’s zigzagging trails as horseback riders and their steeds trot past ponds and trickling creeks. When not escorting riders around the ranch’s maze of riding trails, resident horses and their goat companions frolic in a sprawling pasture, where both experienced and fledgling equestrians can saddle up their own horses or those that live at the ranch. Sleepy Sheep Ranch provides board and care for local equines whose owners don’t have the space and for local mustangs lying low after losing a road race to a golf cart. Serious riders can peruse a for-sale selection of livestock, which includes a handful of stallions and boisterous goats whose iron stomachs allow them to eat not only their own share of food, but the horses’ and compost bins’ as well.

At Collin County Paintball Park, teams go to head-to-head in paint-slinging combat during weekend open-play sessions outdoors. As players simulate the drama of warfare, they duck behind trees, forts, and larger teammates while trying to escape colorful pellets shot by the opposing team. A watchful referee moderates each game to make sure players adhere to field rules and play safely. In addition to public open-play games, groups of 10 or more can rent the park for events, birthdays, and other private parties. Eisenhower Yacht Club (EYC) gathers boat lovers to share their passion for and knowledge of runabouts, cruisers, houseboats, and sailboats. Members of EYC have access to factory-trained mechanics and upkeep services at the Eisenhower Marina, which is nestled in the lush greenery of Eisenhower State Park along Lake Texoma.

Boat-less patrons can visit the harbor and rent a pontoon, which holds up to 10 people for on-water parties, sightseeing, or fishing. To take in the jagged shoreline marked by numerous inlets, visitors can also rent a bicycle and cruise bike paths before stopping at the beach for a picnic or a swim. EYC also sells everything from boats and yachts to small watercraft and boat slips that fit under boat evening gowns.
