Woodlands Pet Resort blurs the lines between hotels for humans and hotels for pets with a slew of comforting amenities, including seven bathroom breaks or walks each day for dogs and a box full of feline toys for cats. No men, no makeup, no mirrors. It's a philosophy that?s helped members of the Curves community since 1992. Part fitness center, part community center, Curves is a women?s only club that takes a streamlined approach to health, fitness, and weight loss. Curves has teamed up with health and fitness coach Jillian Michaels to develop full-body, 30-minute workouts that kick-start weight loss, combining strength training, cardio, and stretching into sessions that torch fat, build strength, boost intensity, and prevent plateaus. These workouts are enhanced further by the Curves Complete Program, available for an extra fee, which is rooted in Curves' method for effective weight loss in that it supplements efforts at the gym with personalized meal plans and weekly one-on-one meetings with a certified Curves coach.
Live-fire training takes place at I Am Not A Victim's outdoor range. Depending on the class, instructors might set up targets on a concrete lot or grassy areas near the woods.
While many customers bring their own firearms, I Am Not A Victim also offers a rental package with a gun, holster, and ammunition.
Drawing upon 4 years as a US Army Ranger and more than 15 years in law enforcement, Mixon Eldridge ensures that students at I Am Not A Victim leave with an in-depth understanding of gun safety and responsibility. Mixon leads courses that cover subjects such as gun laws, firearm safety, and shooting fundamentals. Mixon’s basic and advance trainings take closer looks at drawing and holstering, basic marksmanship, and firing at targets.
Third-generation chef Michael Granata of Granata's Catering & Kitchen Studio welcomes intrepid diners to take part in the preparation of a gourmet four-course meal within the interactive studio kitchen. Granata guides up to 24 diner-chefs through the entire cooking process, imparting knowledge about how to properly prepare meat and how to choose the best ingredients according to how they sound in a stethoscope. The course menu varies by theme, such as February's Dining with Your Sweetheart, but a sample first course includes butter-infused shrimp over a stone-ground grit cake, and a sample second course includes a field green salad dressed with roasted pecans, cheese crumbles, and a citrus drizzle. Pork, poultry, or beef-tenderloin entrees comprise the main course, which paves the way for decadent desserts such as a trio of chocolates or ice cream topped by the crown jewels.
Unlike most places, at Climb at Blue Ridge, monkey-like maneuvers indicate superhuman skill. Colorful footholds and handholds speckle the climbing gym’s towering walls and the ceiling of a boxy alcove, with some jutting out at treacherous angles. Equipped with safety gear, climbers surmount the faux cliffs at their leisure, unlike someone trying to escape a vengeful mountain goat. Alternatively, they can join the climbing team to hone their scaling skills in both the gym and the wild.
