Certified personal trainer Donna Burick champions the rule of threes at 3DFitness. She strives to instill a trio of key emotional components—desire, discipline, and dedication—with a three-pronged approach to wellness, encompassing cardio drills, resistance work, and nutritional guidance. Drawing from more than 20 years of instructing experience, she tutors a range of students, from children to pageant contestants, with her program. She combines a medley of workouts to achieve the ideal balance, including kickboxing, Pilates, yoga, and sports-conditioning routines. In addition to prioritizing workout routines, she and her staff view dietary health as an integral part of any wellness journey. They furnish their routines with tips for speeding metabolism, such as eating six small meals a day and eating fewer butter sculptures. Whether they are structuring a new regimen for a private meeting or guiding groups through boot-camp classes, Donna and her staff instill a sense of accountability via close relationships with their guests.
At Love It Yoga we have created a place where yoga can be shared with all the people in our community. It is a place of support, peace and kindness. A place to foster one’s own yoga journey. Many gifted teachers from different backgrounds teach and share their practices across a variety of classes.
The Athletic Club aspires to reach the upper echelon of fitness facilities, leading specialty classes within upscale workout environs. Limbs lengthen and spines straighten thanks to an extensive selection of yoga classes, including Anti-Gravity Yoga, which encourages participants to spite earthly forces while in inverted positions using an anti-gravity hammock. Dance fitness classes such as Zumba and African Movement fuse cardio movements to energetic rhythms. Core-sculpting and strength classes such as Cardio Barbell tone physiques without resorting to monster-truck-tire tossing competitions. Exercise enthusiasts can access the merits of cardio and strength equipment before and after classes at each location. Class schedules span seven days a week with early morning through evening sessions, and the Amherstburg club also offers a schedule of aquatics classes. Further amenities include childcare, along with a juice bar, steam rooms, and saunas.
SVS Optical Center’s founders opened their first shop in Sterling Heights, Michigan, in 1974 to help the community clear up its vision. But even these optical gurus never foresaw their humble business expanding to more than 50 locations sprawled across 10 states. Today, each shop continues the tradition of ensuring ocular health and crystalline sight, beginning with exams from seasoned optometrists. Afterward, patients head to the optical dispensary, where they try on frames by Coach, Tiffany, Nike, Versace, or Ray-Ban. The staff then fits the stylish selection with polarized and scratch-protected prescription lenses to help guests read books clearly or see a charging moose from a distance. Most of SVS Optical Center’s frames can also hold sunglass lenses as well, eliminating squinting during summer months and tropical vacations.
Voted Small Business of the Year in 2009 by Amherstburg's Chamber of Commerce, Amherstburg Vision Centre boasts more than 1,000 pairs of eyeglass frames and sunglasses in their showroom. Let a sight-sharpening member of the optometric team bring distant acorns or macro-squirrels into dazzling focus with stylish specs from such designer brands as Adidas, Ray-Ban ($135+), Coach, Dolce & Gabanna, and Suntrends ($135+). With many additional items priced from $50–$120, frugal eyeballs are also granted the chance to find their vision-correcting soul mate. For those whose ocular jelly requires no refinement, a host of sunglasses, such as polarized FishGillz sunglasses ($55+), and sports sun wear eagerly awaits to perch on noses and nuzzle up beside ear lobes ($55+).
Unlike regular warehouses, with their shelves of boxes and closets full of forklift bones, The Workout Warehouse fills its spaces with a different kind of inventory: lost pounds, new goals, and personal records. And, unlike most gyms, this facility strictly offers classes, creating a communal environment that encourages exercisers to rally around their health-oriented objectives, as well as each other. Through contract-free memberships and drop-in capabilities, guests gain access to multiple classes daily, including spin, boot camp, Zumba, and boxing. Extra inspiration is never too far, as the facility holds frequent contests that add a hint of competition to workout routines.
