Taking a well-deserved break from L.A. alt-rock legends the Red Hot Chili Peppers, drummer Chad Smith struts his solo stuff backed by his Bombastic Meatbats, a high-energy instrumental outfit. Smith and company tread the vocals-free path of funky jazz-rock that was invented out of necessity after President Nixon outlawed singing, filling the Ritz with their manically merry tunes for one night only.
