Each class at StudioFit is unique because each of the certified instructors choreographs an exercise routine set to a custom mix of heart-pumping music and lights. They welcome students of all fitness levels for spinning, cardio-kickboxing, and Zumba classes held within a spacious mirrored studio. In spinning classes, exercisers straddle stationary bikes as they pedal along to different resistances. In kickboxing, they make their ways through boxing techniques that fuel cardio workouts. In Zumba classes, dancers move to Latin-based rhythms and music, shaking their hips and performing cardiovascular dance moves more fun than the power-walking man.
The certified instructors at Pilates Sculpt Studio forge strong muscles and mind-body connections through the system of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates. Pilates, the son of two gymnasts, devoted his lifetime to studying fitness. He eventually developed his signature Pilates method as a way to help heal old injuries and correct poor postures. His exercises and stretches, using the body as resistance, are especially useful for people who sit at their desks all day or sleep on lava rocks at night.
LA Boxing offers fitness classes in boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts. The proprietary style of the LA Boxing workout is a mixture of genuine fight training, engaging fitness, and stronger-than-earth gravity. Quasi-boxers and martial artists may burn from 800 to more than 1,000 calories during these total-body routines, which combine external inspiration with jukes, jabs, and kicks. Both men and women are welcome in the ring, where they'll learn new techniques and methods to blissfully break into a sweat in an energetic group setting. Gloves are provided during the one-month trial membership, as are a set of reusable pro-quality hand wraps and complimentary motivational mumbling from Burgess Meredith (all three subject to availability).

Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
First by offering them a non-intimidating atmosphere. We also offer a free orientation to every new member and over 50% off our personal training starter packs to help increase a person's chances of success. I have personally seen a much higher rate of success when a new member starts out using a good personal trainer. A good certified trainer will help you avoid injuring yourself, keep you accountable and motivated, help you select good food choices by designing a healthy meal plan, and keep you on a path to success through their expertise and experience while having fun.
What's the most radical physical transformation you've seen a client make?
I have seen quite a few people lose between 100 to 200 pounds and make some amazing transformations. I have also seen clients gain significant amounts of muscle while losing body fat, but if I had to pick one I would pick a trainer who works at World Gym. He recently decided to enter a men's physique competition and weighed around 240 pounds and needed to drop at least 40. He trained very hard and became very serious about his diet. After four months he had dropped over 50 pounds and looked fantastic with 5% body fat. Through the process he had great energy and never got moody because he was still able to eat a good amount of food while shedding the pounds.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
We are also a smaller neighborhood type gym that has people from all walks of life. We are never overcrowded and you never have to sign up for treadmills like some of the bigger box clubs.
As a fitness instructor and nutritionist, Tina Marie Schneider had almost every kind of client. She helped rehabilitate people at Centinela Hospital Medical Center, she developed regimens to give celebrities flat tummies or muscular shoulders at Paramount Studios, and she coached professional athletes in their kitchens as the nutritionist for the LA Galaxy. The one type of client she didn't see enough of, though, was regular men and women. So, she and her husband, Tim, opened Spin 360 - Weight Loss Center in 1998 to provide a private, supportive place for average Janes and Joes to work out and diet.
Tina's fitness regimens focus largely upon the intense cardio exercise to be found atop her dozens of Spinner bikes, though she also maintains a strength training room for private workouts. She combines this program with her nutritional coaching, teaching people how to eat an ideal protein diet to support high levels of physical activity while encouraging the body to shed pounds. She points out that the most important aspect of dieting is not the initial weight loss, but learning how to maintain results at the end of the diet by eating right and running alongside the car instead of driving.
