Through a program designed by professional MMA fighter Kendrick Miree, Fitness Through MMA offers 30-minute full-body workouts based on Boxing, Kickboxing and MMA striking techniques. Gym-goers rotate through a series of nine stations, quickly completing routines with various gym equipment, from jump ropes to heavy bags to medicine balls. The circuits maximize muscular endurance, switching from station to station every three minutes, and clients are sure to achieve their goals thanks to trainers that are on hand through each and every workout.
Aventura Mixed Martial Arts goes about business as though its staff and students are one big family. The facility was built around a culture of fitness, performance, and endurance, and the idea that martial-arts training binds people together—like a family. That concept carries through to each of AMMA’s programs, including one program designed for kids as young as 3 years old. Aside from its training curriculum, the facility also offers group classes that are equal parts fun and challenging.
Fitness industry veteran Dulcinea Lee Hellings's goal is to bring a high-quality, effective exercise regimen to people who don't love big gyms or can't afford personal trainers. In 2004, she realized that mornings could be used for more than hitting the snooze button over and over for two hours, and founded Boot Camp "Morning Crunch!" to help fledgling exercisers whip into shape.
She designs her all-levels programs to be scream-free morning motivators⎯the first stop in her patrons' journey of daily accomplishments. The fast-paced, ever-changing circuit of strength and cardio exercises keeps bodies guessing and minds from becoming bored. Each of the boot camp's 12 outdoor locations has a different dedicated trainer who gets to know each student personally, remembering their names and memorizing any interesting freckle patterns. They complement their morning routines with a smattering of evening options for those who prefer to work out after the day's activities.
With a name like Sport Kids Miami, you'd expect to find classes focused on physical activities such as karate and rhythmic gymnastics. But you might be surprised to find that same facility hosting classes in topics like Lego-building and drawing. At Sport Kids Miami, it doesn't matter what kind of activity your kids want to do—only that they be given the opportunity to do it. Classes, which cover everything from ballet to boxing to molding, help children improve their gross motor skills and seek out a new passion, and also lead to benefits such as increased confidence, better coordination, and acceptance into a cooler group of imaginary friends.
Established in 1988, FIST Mixed Martial Arts offers a potent puree of several styles, including Krav Maga, kung fu, kickboxing, and Jiu-Jitsu, in its curriculum. Throughout the lessons, the school's instructors emphasize self-confidence, discipline, balance, and how a well-delivered high kick can get any malfunctioning jukebox working again. FIST's top priority is the safety of its students, meaning all engagements are closely monitored and students must wear the proper safety equipment. Each class is an hour long, with courses open to martial artists of all ages and abilities. There are classes specifically designed for children (ages 5–7), youth (ages 8–12), and adults (ages 12+), as well as general fitness classes. Check the schedule for upcoming course options.
Just 900 square feet. That was all the space the original American Top Team Aventura (ATT) had to work with when the team began training in Boca Raton. But despite the cramped quarters, the Mixed Martial Arts fighters excelled at their craft. Eventually, ATT upgraded a bit—the current location covers a massive 20,000 square feet, widely considered the largest Mixed Martial Arts facility in the state. And its Brazilian jujitsu, or BJJ, training program, available for both kids and adults, has gained such widespread acclaim that the academy's specific techniques now show up at academies across the country and the world. Beyond BJJ, American Top Team's seasoned instructors also teach muay thai kickboxing, boxing, cross-training, submission grappling, wrestling, and a kids program.
