Soft waterfall lighting floods Zenya Yoga & Massage Studio's space, a holistic repository of all things relaxing. Light music skirts the earth-toned walls as a fleet of yogis guides students of all skill levels through a variety of yoga classes, including gentle flow, anusara and prenatal, using hands-on guidance to provide slight postural adjustments, easing beginners into complex poses, and ramping up the challenge for seasoned practitioners. Amber bamboo flooring meanders through the center, undergirding private rooms that house pampering body-therapy sessions that range from honey facials and body polishes to deep-tissue and Thai massage.
Set against an open, airy backdrop of clean studio space and zen-like décor, The Space Above’s dedicated brood of body pullers melt tense muscles and empty stress-filled skulls with their serene yoga practice. Dedicated to positivity and openness, the studio embraces eco-friendly practices, such as recycling, composting, and using recycled karma whenever available.
Studio Bamboo is an aptly named yoga center that sprawls over three practice rooms, all beautifully outfitted with real bamboo floors and high ceilings for a truly tranquil, meditative practice environment. Bamboo's flexible schedule of classes is taught by a staff of skilled instructors and include everything from beginning yoga foundations and vinyasa to specialized classes such as prenatal for women bearing potentially other women, rehabilitative yoga, and hot yoga with a custom heat and vent system.
Certified by the Yoga Alliance, the instructors at Hot Yoga Studio lead daily detoxifying lessons in which they slide into peaceful poses on their studio’s bamboo floors. A wall-length window floods the studio with natural light and offers a glimpse of the world outside, and tall mirrors reflect the yogis as they lead their classes inside a heated environment. This steamy setting purges toxins from the body and allows practitioners to sink more deeply into each stretch.
During the studio’s more intense classes, students cycle through up to 30 postures that release oxygenated blood to organs, which can lead to more efficient living. After class, full-service locker rooms await with showers, shampoo, and blow-dryers. The studio’s shelves are also stocked with towels, mats, organic mat cleaners, and artisanal soaps made with goat's milk and moisture from the clouds that the instructors levitate on.
Briana Ward didn't find relief for her back pain until she took a yoga class while in Hawaii. The combination of healing poses and tropical heat made her discomfort melt away, but it didn't stop there; it also inspired her to deepen her knowledge of hot yoga. After educational trips to Bali and training with expert instructors all over America, Briana decided to pursue her dream of owning a yoga studio and sharing yoga with as many people as possible.
Today, inside their large, wood-floored studio, Briana and her team of certified instructors lead students of all levels through a variety of balmy classes. Her signature instruction takes place with the heat turned up: temperatures hit about 100 degrees in the morning and 105 in the evening, helping loosen stiff muscles and allowing students to sink deeper into the postures. Guests not yet ready for life beneath the broiler can warm up during cooler classes, where temperatures top out around 80-85 degrees.
