The shelves at Color Me Mine?s studios teem with whimsical bisque-pottery pieces?pony and princess figurines, piggy banks, and kitty-cat mugs?each stark white and waiting for the brush strokes of a budding artist. That artist might be a birthday boy at a party or a grown-up unwinding at a girls' night out. No previous experience is required, as the studio staff dispenses plenty of painting tips, stencils, and artistic inspiration. Afterwards, the staff will fire the resulting pieces, which can then be used as d?cor or dinnerware thanks to Color Me Mine's lead-free, food-safe, paints.
From their nests at Plymouth Municipal Airport and Norwood Municipal Airport, New England Helicopter Academy?s Schweizer Model 300 helicopters lift fledgling aviators into the skies for flights ranging from introductory runs to intensive training courses. Combining the choppers? precise handling with academy president Rick Smith?s rigorous training regimen, pilots-to-be learn to expertly handle real-life flying situations such as landing at uncontrolled airports, flying in inclement weather, and airlifting bananas to King Kong. In addition to serving as mid-air classrooms, choppers also treat students to sky-high sightseeing, with training flights often motoring over New England landmarks including the Cape Cod coastline and cities such as Boston and Providence.
Drawing on more than a decade of spinning experience, Jody Pugh captains a team of lively instructors at Just Ride!, an indoor cycling studio that was crowned one of Plymouth's best health clubs by the readers of WickedLocal.com in 2011, 2012, and 2013. The quality of the instructors is matched by the fleet of Keiser M3 bikes, each equipped to track cycling stats including revolutions per minute, distance, heart rate, and amount of baseball cards needed to make an authentic motorcycle noise. Atop the stationary two-wheelers, riders of all fitness levels pedal at their own pace during classes.
First established in 1913, the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra proudly embraces a storied history that saw the group blossom from a 30-piece ensemble to a professional symphony orchestra of 75 musicians. Steven Karidoyanes has marshaled this acoustical army as its music director since 1994, leading them in performances at venues across the state.
Music is in Laura O’Neill’s blood. The scion of a musical family, she attended the University of Massachusetts for music education and has spent the intervening years in positions such as youth choir director and Nashville Symphony Chorus member. Now a private voice and piano teacher, O’Neill works with the Kindermusik program to bring melodic joy to young students. Her weekly classes let kids and their parents dance, sing, and play, and prime youngsters to grow up to be music lovers.
