Committing their enterprise to eco-friendly tourism, the women at SegZone Tours guide visitors through the historic streets of Annapolis, along the city waterways of Dover, and around the track at Dover International Speedway—all aboard segways. For groups or private parties, tour leaders can also focus excursions on local gardens, architecture, and wildlife in areas often unreachable by car or paraglider. They also guide themed seasonal tours, such as rides along haunted-house routes or past holiday-light displays. With an eye toward safety, staff members always provide thorough instruction on riding before tours or rentals, though they often give customers license to race or argue over whose segway would look better with flames painted on the side. When not leading guided excursions for customers or school groups, the team organizes corporate team-building events as well as indoor obstacle courses for recreation.

Right where the mouth of the Susquehanna River yawns into Chesapeake Bay lies the protected, uncrowded waters of Havre de Grace harbor. BaySail's instructors take advantage of these opportune conditions, operating a sailing school that's accredited by the American Sailing Association. Upholding training standards that have won the ASA's School of the Year award, they lead sailing classes ranging from introductory lessons to certification courses in coastal cruising and bareboat chartering. In addition to lending its fleet for lessons, BaySail's team rents its vessels?from a Capri 22 to a Hunter 460?to members. The sailboats also glide out on chartered cruises, taking guests to nearby destinations such as Inner Harbor and the Sassafras River, where sassafras trees come to spawn every winter.

A winery and vineyard nestled at the head of Chesapeake Bay, Dove Valley Wine cultivates grapes with the aid of the region's rich soil and plentiful sun. The staff harvests the juicy grapes and mashes them by hand, prepping them to be aged in oak casks. The resulting wines range from dry, dusky reds to crisp, fruity whites?and many have brought home awards from wine competitions in Maryland and New York's Finger Lakes region. Meanwhile, on-site events such as tastings, summer concert series, and special dinners help create a lively backdrop to showcase the wines.

Harford Vineyard and Winery caters to oenophiles of all stripes, creating limited productions of carefully crafted reds and whites. A trip through the rolling hills that surround the winery could culminate in a sampling of Harford's off-dry vidal, silken merlot, or a sweet blend of vidal grapes and ripe peaches. Visitors can also pick the vintners' minds for tips on winemaking, wine tasting, and telling the difference between wine and melted purple crayons.

Where do you host a yearly gathering of mediums, ghost hunters, and other paranormal enthusiasts? Somewhere haunted. That's why, for the past several years, Phenomacon Central sets up shop at the Eisenhower Hotel. Located 5 miles away from Gettysburg National Military Park, the hotel is known for its paranormal activity, notably in and around its on-site farmhouse.

Throughout the four-day Phenomacon Central event, attendees can explore the haunted grounds during expert-led ghost hunts on Friday and Saturday at midnight. Moreover, they can pick the experts' brains during lectures such as the Violent Hauntings discussion hosted by Jason Gowin and featuring panelists Andrea and Roger Perron, Tony and Debra Pickman, Carmen Reed, and Chris Dedman. The event organizers supplement the paranormal activities with entertainment such as a concert from Evermore Paranormal, a costume party dubbed the Ghoul's Gala, and silver bullet Russian roulette with real-life werewolves.
