  • Lexington Avenue Brewery
Where food and beer may seem to be independent entities at many brewpubs, the two facets of Lexington Avenue Brewery are inextricably linked. It begins in the onsite brewery, where locally sourced ingredients give rise to an amber array of unfiltered, additive-free beers. Then it's onto the farm, where the pub's own herd of Black Angus cattle feed on the brewery's spent grain. These cows, in turn, become part of the artisan food menu, bolstering the beers with burgers topped in house-cured bacon and hand-cut steaks. Of course, the brewery's function would be incomplete without a matching form. Spotlights glint off a floor-to-ceiling, curved fishbowl wall, where cavernous steel pots house signature beers and the 92-foot adjoining bar seats patrons busy imagining the effervescent hops nearby.

  • The Velo Fellow
Between its beer and its food, The Velo Fellow’s menu is almost as long as Britain’s history. It’s a fitting comparison, because the menu is chock-full of food and drink inspired by England and the domains its empire expanded to include. Specifically, the food roster showcases fish and chips—beer-battered whitefish—and shepherd’s pie. But there are also more inventive options such as falafel burgers. The food gets a boost from bottled beers such as Boddingtons Pub Ale, Highland Kashmir IPA, and Taj Mahal Premium Lager.
