Pacific Pedal Cruiser's 14-person cruiser bikes help passengers work up an appetite as they power the pedal-equipped vehicle toward Hermosa Beach restaurants and bars under the guidance of an experienced driver. As tunes lilt from the bike’s iPod-equipped sound system, passengers work their way toward pit stops at bars, such as Patrick Molloys, Underground Pub & Grill, Barnacles Bar and Grill, and other area establishments, refueling with dining and drink specials before resuming their breezy cruise. Bikes welcome the collected members of a bachelorette party or birthday fete for camaraderie-filled private tours or forge new friendships between couples and people tired of waiting at the impound lot during public tours.
At Heart & Pole, veteran enthusiastic instructors lead classes of bodily mastery and sultry exploration. Designed as a pole primer, the Introduction to Pole-Dance class provides a taste testing of Heart & Pole's pole program, with a complete workout and teaching of basic tricks on the ever-elusive pole. The Girlie Burlesque class teaches students a routine that can easily be used at home, onstage, or at a home stage in the kitchen. There are three possible routines broken up by accessories: feather boas and stockings, pearls and gloves, and shirts, ties, fedoras, and Hulkamania foam fingers (check with Heart & Pole to confirm which routine will be taught in each class).
Inside the spacious, sun-filled studio, passionate teachers Leyla Assadi and Kay Ostrenko lead students of all abilities through a robust schedule of 90-minute, heated-yoga classes. Created by celebrated yogi, Bikram Choudhury, the Bikram-yoga method features two breathing exercises and 26 postures designed to promote flexibility and detoxify the body with stretches and balances that send freshly oxygenated blood white water rafting through the body's veins and organs. Heated to a balmy 105-degrees, the serene practice space envelopes students in wall-spanning mirrors and floor to ceiling windows that illuminate the room with soft, natural light. After reducing toxins to Wicked Witch floor puddles, patrons can take advantage of the studio's spa-like facilities, where a steamy sauna and roomy showers complete the cleansing process.
Unlimited Fitness offers its clients personalized training in lively small-group settings. The trainers welcome 8–10 clients to attend each of their 55-minute sessions, which take place multiple times a day and require reservations. Because they place a cap on the number of students in attendance, the trainers can easily customize exercise routines to suit everyone’s particular fitness goals, skills, and number of extra arms.
Besides trainers equipped with all the fitness knowledge needed to whip clients into shape, the gym comes fully stocked with everything from ellipticals and stationary bikes to resistance bands and medicine balls.
The staff members at Core Fitness lead circuit-training fitness classes as well as personal-training sessions. During the group classes, the trainers challenge their students with upper body, lower body, core, cardio, balance, and strength exercises on 12 to 16 different stations.
