When founding Park Avenue Salon and Spa, owner Lynne Zsido assembled an experienced staff of licensed professionals, many with decades of experience. With an eye to environmental responsibility, the beautification crew assesses an armory of products by Bare Escentuals, CND, and Marcia Teixeira. Beyond the spa's emerald-hued door, smooth stones steep in warmth in preparation for romps across tired muscles or bank vaults carved from butter. Sweet nothings drift from massage sessions for couples, and soothing and cleansing elixirs wrought from Hershey's chocolate, jojoba oil, and almonds broadcast a dulcet bouquet.
Lynn Leo and his staff of aestheticians and stylists at Leo's on Chocolate Salon & Spa beautify clients with a broad range of relaxing, revitalizing treatments. Hair color specialists accentuate monochrome 'dos with highlights and color, massage therapists ease persistent aches, aestheticians perform pampering facials, and nail technicians smooth cuticles with soothing manicures and pedicures.
Trend Setters Hair Salon's owner and captain stylist, Jen Palmer, calls on more than 18 years of experience and specialization in cuts and coloring as she leads her staff. The team's comprehensive menu runs the gamut from keratin treatments and perms to facial waxing. In time slots doled out by appointment only, they discipline rowdy locks with products from Moroccanoil and Nioxin and brighten nails with artful french tips or resilient shellac gel that guards against chipping so that clients don't have to wear oven mitts to work. Surrounding the stylist's beautification chairs, muted, green walls hung with photos of flora and fauna craft a woodland-like environment.
The stylists at Envision Hair Studio beautify the entire family with a full range of salon services. Along with cuts and color, they help eradicate frizz from hair with keratin treatments that make it impossible for hair to curl, even if you try to reward it with a treat.
When choosing a moniker for their new salon, Evolve's team didn't just flip to a random page in the dictionary. They opted for a name that they felt best represented what they do on a daily basis: use the art of cutting, coloring, and styling hair to help their clients change not just the way they look, but also the way they feel about themselves. The salon itself, with its modern decor, creates a comfortable environment for this evolution to take place, and is also eco-friendly; stylists use products from the natural-ingredient-based Eufora line.
That elegant yet comfortable decor includes earth-toned checkered floors and the occasional area rug, floor-to-ceiling plant, and framed piece of art. Cushioned chairs with homey pillows make the waiting area a welcoming introduction to the salon, and white pillars throughout evoke a Greek symposium. An all-black ceiling, however, evokes the cosmos, with track lights resembling stars and hair clippings flung upward resembling a space shuttle streaking toward the heavens.
