Rink Side Family Entertainment Center & Ice Arena features activities and amenities for visitors of all ages. The center's regulation-sized ice rink serves many purposes throughout the year. Public-skate times are offered every day, allowing guests to escape the summertime heat or reconnect with the snowman they've been hiding since winter. Additionally, the rink's staff hosts figure-skating lessons and organizes hockey leagues for adults and children seeking casual or competitive play.
In between laps around the ice, Rink Side's visitors can take advantage of the facility's other family-friendly pursuits. The 18-hole, black-lit miniature-golf course embraces a nautical theme, complete with sculptures of exotic sea creatures and spiderwebbing coral growths. Hundreds of games fill the arcade space, tempting passersby to test their hand-eye coordination or win tickets that can be redeemed for prizes. For an adrenaline-boosting experience, the entertainment center also features a laser-tag arena. As many as 20 participants can spend seven minutes dodging behind the arena's towering, neon-banded columns and tagging opponents before regrouping with friends and comparing scores. Rink Side even includes a small caf? where visitors can recharge. The facility also creates lifelong memories with family and friends through its private party and event services.
Parents can rest assured their kids are playing safely at Diverzion Kids. For one, the climate-controlled play arena keeps children active and occupied even if the outdoors are made inhospitable by pouring rain or sweltering heat. Also, the staffers keep a watchful eye on sock-footed moppets as they gambol on bounce houses and slides, but just in case they blink, a security camera system serves as a backup measure. Meanwhile, birthday boys and girls celebrate with the friends in private rooms and regular visitors clamber around obstacles and rack up high scores in the arcade.
Caution CrossFit founder Dominick Maurici believes that CrossFit training is, as he puts it on his website, a “way of life and well being. It’s the fitness that you create out of yourself.” No stranger to the pursuit of physical fitness, Maurici spent his high-school years competing in soccer and football before going on to earn a black belt in tae kwon do. The health benefits and jealous looks he received from bathing-suit mannequins taught him the rewards of training in multiple disciplines. When he found the CrossFit program, he felt right at home with the varied and multidimensional exercise form. He even became a certified CrossFit trainer and went on to compete against other leading instructors across the southwest in the CrossFit Games.
As the Caution CrossFit skull and biohazard logo stares down from the cinder-brick walls of their practice space, Maurici and his team lead students through an ever-changing workout of the day. Full of intensified circuit training, their workouts make use of the facilities multiple rowing machines, Olympic barbells, kettlebells, jump ropes, plyometric boxes, and suspension rings. In keeping with Maurici’s love of training across multiple disciplines, the studio now offers yoga instruction as well.
With hands gripped to the wheels of karts capable of cresting 45 miles per hour, up to 12 racers hum around the hairpin turns and straightaways of K1 Speed's indoor track during adrenaline-spiking sprints toward the podium. This brand of excitement can be found at all 24 locations, where racers eschew the fumes and inflammatory skywriting of gas kart exhaust for European, eco-friendly electric karts designed to instantly accelerate out of curves, which are bordered by safety barriers that absorb impacts.
Splat Paintball Park’s players strap on goggles and cradle Tippmann 98 paintball guns before sprinting through the X-ball grass field or the urban-scenario field encompassed by 20-foot-high netting and high-tech lighting. As players dash around, Paintball Training Institute–certified referees ensure the Geneva Conventions are followed.
Teams first design plans of attack in the covered staging area equipped with ceiling fans and cleaning stations, and then hone their aim at the shooting gallery. An onsite pro shop stocks shelves with all the extra equipment they could need.
In between matches, players relax in the indoor lounge with a snack bar, a big-screen TV, and paintball videos. Those celebrating birthdays storm the fields with friends before retiring to the private air-conditioned party room.
