Ultimate Gym's trainers first kicked open its doors in 1986, and their no-nonsense attitude toward hard work and smart training have endured since then. Trainers challenge students through cardio and muscle-toning drills in boot camps, yoga, and Zumba sessions, and a staff, led by coach Billy Reuter, uploads self-defense maneuvers into feet and fists in their Ultimate Fighting Solutions classes for kids and adults. Layered on a foundation of Krav Maga, which was developed and battlefield tested by the Israeli Defense Forces, the system blends moves from across the martial-arts spectrum to train people to defend against real-world scenarios. After churning out new muscles, guests can visit the onsite chiropractor to manage pain, recover from an injury, and turn their heads back toward the front after a boxing match.
Within a 20,000-square-foot facility, Active Kidz hosts a panoply of interactive games and hands-on physical activities to excite, entertain, and exercise daring youngsters. Enter the 4,500-square-foot laser tag arena for a doubleheader of wave-particle conflict. Teams battle evil robots and each other in the setting of a post-apocalyptic future where only the strongest of vests survive. Alternately, exploring pairs climb into the adventure maze, a four-level labyrinth sporting tunnels, bridges, and a minotaur that has remained tangled in the web-climb for untold eons. More than 40 play elements exercise pint-sized imaginations, while two slides teach kids the thrill of gravitational velocity. Two $10 arcade cards give access to the non-redemption games in the room of digital diversions, and triumphs are toasted with bubbly sodas.
What was once Lil's Dancing School has now transformed into The Studio Dance & Pilates, thanks to a longtime Lil's teacher, June Coppola. Her lifelong journey with dance began at age 4, and after 23 years of teaching at Lil's, she got the chance to take it over and realize her dream of owning her own studio. Now, a multitude of experienced teachers, including a core group that has danced together for more than 25 years, lead classes in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary dance for dancers of all ages. Coppola has also incorporated Pilates, yoga, and Zumba into the class offerings, giving her clients a chance to both hone their dance skills and tone their bodies.
With more than 30 years of kid-entertaining experience, The Little Gym provides a safe and noncompetitive environment wherein wee ones and maturing moppets can exercise their brains and bodies. Youngsters from 10 months to 12 years can glean social, intellectual, and emotional skills from the facility's professionally developed programs. Diverse limb-elongating activities immerse children in gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, and karate, which extinguishes the need for watchdogs or child-size security guards. The programs cater to differing ages and levels of muscle development, as well as a communal hatred of vegetables. Each session's hands-on activities keep the indefatigable energy motors of little tikes revving, facilitate bonding, and boost listening skills, attention spans, and confidence. Check the complete class schedule to confirm times.
