Platform Art, a nonprofit arts organization, champions emerging artists in the fields of visual arts, film, fashion, music, and performance. In the spirit of a Parisian salon, Platform throws casual art parties that exhibit work in a festive, non-gallery atmosphere. Party #17, "We're Not in Canvas Anymore," will regale audiences with an audiovisual smorgasbord of paintings, sculptures, live music, fashion, and velvet-Elvis portraiture. The evening will culminate in honoring the creative collaboration between local children and artist/educator Paula Allen with the unveiling of their mural created for Platform Art. Following its Platform Art debut, the piece will travel to Imabari, Japan, as part of a cultural exchange, then on to Club Med for a much-needed vacation.
The menu at Tanner’s Pub celebrates bar food from all over the world with a mix of traditional American comfort food and English pub grub. Classic dishes with upscale twists include bacon-wrapped filet mignon and crab penne with asparagus and white-wine sauce.
Classic Italian dishes—including chicken parmigiano and gnocchi bolognese—highlight the eclectic menu at Joia Fabulous Pizza & Martini Bar. Chefs make fresh pizza dough daily, which are hand-tossed, rolled out, and then baked in a brick oven. Pizzas are topped with traditional toppings as well as exotic ingredients like Portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, black olives, and eggplant.
The main dining room is adorned with a black tin-plated ceiling, exposed brick walls, and eclectic Italian-themed artwork, including noodles coiled around a giant fork. Purple velvet walls and burgundy banquettes are found in the private dining room. Painted clouds span the inset ceiling above the eatery’s bar, and spotlights illuminate red- and gold-printed curtains that flank oversized windows.
